News Article Did you know that Skydive Arizona is hosting the third outdoor world championship in Eloy?
posted: Jul 11th, 2026 The FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026 marks the third time since 1985 that Skydive Arizona has hosted the world's premier formation skydiving event. The first occasion came more than three decades ago, when the French national team in 4-way Open captured its fourth consecutive world championship title in Eloy in 1993. The United States was represented by DeLand Vertical Air, and the 1993 world championship became the catalyst for one of the most significant developments in the history of U.S. 4-way competition. Following the event, the top competitors from the East and West Coasts combined... (more)
News Article Did you know that registration is open for the FAI Outdoor World Championship in Eloy?
posted: Jul 11th, 2026 The NSL Power Rankings in the run-up to world championships and world cups are based on information provided by coaches, teams and competitors. That information serves as the foundation for the "speculative predictions" of the expected leaderboard positions, as Arizona Airspeed team captain Joey Marshall described them during NSL Live Talk. Power rankings have long been a familiar journalistic feature in many other sports, predating the NSL News and its coverage of formation skydiving by decades. They were added to the traditional NSL News event coverage approximately ten years ago and have... (more)
News Article Did you know that the NSL Power Rankings for Eloy 2026 have changed?
posted: Jul 9th, 2026 Only three months and two weeks remain until the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026 begins with Round 1 at Skydive Arizona. The NSL News launched its event preview with the first edition of the NSL Power Rankings on May 7th, and it is now time for an update. The three preview leaderboards in 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 8-way Open were originally based on the results and performances of the strongest teams from each participating nation at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, complemented by other factors that contributed to projecting how the actual standings in Eloy may develop. The original... (more)
News Article Did you know that College team Genesis started even earlier and younger than VTSD?
posted: Jul 8th, 2026 VTSD/Carolina Turbo XP/SDC Rhythm XP were not the only civilian U.S. college team whose members began competing while attending a university and then dedicated themselves to 4-way formation skydiving. Several years earlier, another collegiate project had followed a similar path and came even closer to reaching the very top of the sport: DeLand Genesis/PD Blue. Original team members Ian Bobo, Kyle Collins, Shannon Pilcher, David van Greuningen and Eric Taylor first connected through the Georgia Tech University Sport Parachute Club at Freefall Ranch in Warm Springs, Georgia, in 1990. It was there... (more)
News Article Did you know that VTSD launched one of the most successful team progressions with nine meets in 2009?
posted: Jul 8th, 2026 It was a long time ago, yet the Virginia Tech Space Dockers (VTSD) still hold a remarkable participation record in the United States. The NSL 4-way Network continues to offer regular competition for 4-way teams, even though neither the number of meets nor the number of participating teams matches the level of activity when Doug Barron, Andrew Happick, Joey Coffineau and Ben Worrall, with James Sides on camera, entered the world of competitive 4-way formation skydiving. The original VTSD lineup joined the National Skydiving League in 2009 as a collegiate team whose ambitions extended well beyond... (more)
News Article Did you know that Nakama and Trigger's Broom dueled on the same AAA Class leaderboard?
posted: Jul 7th, 2026 The third and final meet of the United Kingdom Skydiving League 2026 before this year's national outdoor championship was the smallest of the season, yet it still offered several interesting storylines in the run-up to Great Britain's most important competition of the year. First of all, the competition draw for the only A Class team at Skydive Hibaldstow, XL Poo, confirmed that British teams have continued using the same A Class dive pool as in 2025. So far, only the dive pool in the United States has changed, as the NSL News reported on June 17th. It made little sense to introduce a new dive... (more)
