... that Sweden's second team Aurora skipped the 20-average level in Charleroi?

5th place in Australia 2028: Echochamber
posted May 16th, 2022 - Sweden's best know team has been Echochamber Oceanside for many years. Echochamber was founded in 2016 and have represented Sweden at almost all of FAI/ISC's indoor and outdoor world cups and world meets ever since.

The corona virus crisis put a dent into this record, as it did for many other teams. The FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019 was the last FAI/ISC event that Echochanber attended before the comeback at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

Echochamber have never missed a Top 10 position for Sweden at the world meets and world cups, and the 2018 season, with the 5th place at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018, followed by the 5th place at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 a few weeks later, was probably the best year for the Swedish team.

The first FAI/ISC indoor meet after the corona virus break at Airspace Charleroi was the first time that Echochamber had to work hard to claim a Top 10 position, as the NSL News reported on April 9th. At the end they ended up tied in 10th place, together with Dutch team Out of the Blue.

3rd place in Australia 2018: Team X
Echochamber Oceanside was not the only team from Sweden at the indoor world cup. The Swedish delegation in horizontal 4-way Formation Skydiving also included Aurora, a Swedish 4-way team that was launched even before Echochamber posted their first scores.

Aurora, with three of the current team members (Filippa Ebersjö, Asah Helenius, Zoltan Hubsch), had their team name on the leaderboard of the Swedish Outdoor Nationals 2015 when Echochamber's Mattias Nord was still competing for Gryttjom Volo and Ulf Lilienback for Team Fusion.

Aurora's 4th member, Bodil Almberg, joined the team when her former Team X did not come back after the corona virus crisis and their last 4-way indoor meet in January 2020. She replaced original member Jonas Homer Fransson, first time at the Swedish Outdoor Nationals 2019.

Bodil Almberg had attended several FAI/ISC indoor and outdoor events with Sweden's 4-way Women team, including a 4th place at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017, two points behind the HF Cubs, and a 3rd place at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018 in Australia.

Aurora's current lineup, with the three original team members and Bodil Almberg, increased their performance and scoring level quickly close to the 20-average benchmark at the Swedish indoor Nationals 2021 and left it far behind at the indoor world cup in April this year.

21.7 at Airspace Charleroi: Aurora
The 21.7 average at Airspace Charleroi is close to the indoor starting point of Echochamber (22.1) in February 2016, and Aurora finished closer to the strongest Swedish 4-way team than ever before.

However, Aurora were probably not looking at the Echochamber scores, which were crucial only for the Swedish national team's battle for the Top 10 position. Aurora had their own international leaderboard in the middle of the 4-way Open Class field, where teams from five different nations were engaged in their own tight competition.

This intense situation for the second Swedish team was probably helpful to push Aurora to the significantly increased meet average, which did not only break the 20-point benchmark for the first time. Aurora skipped the 20-average level and finished with their first 21+ finish.

Echochamber and Aurora both train and compete indoors and outdoors. Aurora have a 14.8 average with the current lineup in their outdoor records, which may also be history later this year. Echochamber is in the middle of the preparations for the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022 in October, where only one team will compete for each country.
