News Article Did you know that Norwegian Freeflyer Derek Broughton helps out in 8-way?
posted: Aug 4th, 2010 It's time for some videos. NSL-TV is trying to catch up, first in 8-way, before the last rounds will decide over the medals. The judges are not working on the videos of Round 8 yet, and the first three 8-way rounds are now available for reviews on NSL-TV. It is a little bit slower in the morning since the judges are waiting for all videos to be available. There is a chain reaction that leads to the slower pace in 8-way. Norway registered an 8-way team in the last minute, hats up, by the way. Both Norwegian 4-way teams joined forces to allow the IPC handing out 8-way medals in 8-way to the three... (more)
News Article Did you know that Gary Smith and Mike LaRoche open the day for the NSL News in Menzelinsk?
posted: Aug 4th, 2010 Wednesday morning at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 began with a new session of NSL Talk. Actually, big news first: the Fun Flag is now in the possession of the US female 4-way team, Spaceland Blue. That is no surprise since Thomas Hughes is the team's coach. Gary Smith and Mike LaRoche were the NSL Talk guests this morning. Mike LaRoche is the alternate for the Golden Knights who were getting ready for Round 8 when the NSL Talk took place. The NSL News audience may remember that the NSL News reported in spring this year that Mike LaRoche could not compete with his team at... (more)
News Article Did you know that Thomas Hughes has the Fun Flag?
posted: Aug 3rd, 2010 An action loaded day is over at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010. All scores of today are posted, and it cannot be much more exciting in the 4-way Open Class and in 8-way. It seems as if Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge and Arizona Airspeed have their own battle for the gold medals over the last three rounds. However, there is the fast sequence of Round 9, which could bring the Sky Panthers and NMP-PCH Hayabusa back in striking distance. Paratec-Saar is in great position to win the unofficial title of the best amateur team in the world and has even left UK's team Satori behind so... (more)
News Article Did you know that the latest NSL Talk session included a Fun Flag update?
posted: Aug 3rd, 2010 The second NSL Talk session on Tuesday took place after the 4-way teams arrived at the dropzone and while they prepared for their first jumps of the day. The coaches had finished their work with the teams and had time to join the NSL Talk session. It was a special group, as Gary Smith, Solly Williams and NSL Talk host Joey Jones were DeLand Majik team mates when they won the World Meet 2004 in Croatia. Lenka Mazaeva joined the group by coincidence. The former Lady Birds member came to greet her former coach Solly Williams and could not escape before the camera was running. This NSL Talk session... News Article Did you know that Rookie turned into Cookie in Round 6?
posted: Aug 3rd, 2010 The 8-way scores are telling the whole story by themselves. It has now turned into a 2-team battle, as the Russian Barkli team fell too far behind in Round 6. Barkli tied the US and French 22-pointers in Round 5, and the meet was neutralized for a round. Then Round 6 brought the US team fully back into the gold medal business. Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge and Golden Knights completed the same number of formations in working time, but the French team lost another two points in the judging room. The total French damage has gone up to four points, while the Golden Knights have had a totally clean meet... (more)
News Article Did you know that Tuesday's 8-way jumps seem to have special importance?
posted: Aug 3rd, 2010 Next thing on Tuesday morning was a conversation with French national coach Jérôme David who is in charge of Formation Skydiving competition in France. He has been a member of the French delegation for 21 years now, first as a competitor, then as a coach and national manager of the FS events. He can look back at a very successful career, and the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 may turn out as the peak in the coaching part. At the moment, France is in first place in all three FS events, and his former team mate Philippe Schorno is guiding the French VRW team towards gold medals,... (more)
