News Article Did you know that "training is not quite the same unless you can back it up with a meet"?
posted: Jan 31st, 2012 A surprise visitor showed up at the NSL office yesterday and volunteered to endure a quickly improvised NSL Talk session in front of the NSL-TV camera. Mark Kirkby is on his way to the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2012 and spent a few days in Florida to visit sponsors and team supporters. He talked about the upcoming 2012 season that he looks very much forward to. Arizona Airspeed has somehow missed out on the high-profile international competition last year after the Shamrock Showdown 2011 and the World Challenge 2011and is ready now to take on the top of the world with full steam. Mark... (more)
News Article Did you know that the NSL News brings live coverage of XL at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships this weekend?
posted: Jan 31st, 2012 The first two competitions of the 2012 season are indoor events. Teams in the Czech Republic launched the new competition season at the Skydive Arena in Prague on January 5th, and the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2012 is the next one this weekend, before Skydive Arizona will host the first outdoor competition this year, the Valentine's Meet 2012. French teams will be next with the annual Aerokart Indoor Championship, followed by the Shamrock Showdown 2012 and the World Challenge 2012. It's an early and intensive start of the 2012 season. The NSL News launches this year's live coverage... (more)
News Article Did you know that Satori launches the 2012 season with the Shamrock Showdown/World Challenge combination?
posted: Jan 30th, 2012 The NSL News has to switch back to the preview of the Shamrock Showdown 2012 after great news came in from the Uited Kingdom. Julia Foxwell confirmed for Satori that her team has finalized the travel plans to Florida in March. This adds another world class 4way team to the field of top teams. Satori now represents the 11th country at this year's Shamrock, which makes it more and more like a World Meet at the beginning of the 2012 season. It's not the first time that Satori attends the Shamrock Showdown. The first Satori lineup of 2007/2008 (Julie Foxwell, Katie Woods, Liz Matthews, Aaron... (more)
News Article Did you know that it's time for a separate World Challenge leaderboard in the female 4way category?
posted: Jan 28th, 2012 It is wide open so far whether the World Challenge 2012 will include a Super Sequence this year or not. So far, roughly half of the audience would like to see a sequence of only random formations, while the other half would like to follow the IPC rules for a competition draw. Something else will be different this year, and the list of teams shows what it is. The female lineups will have their own leaderboard for the first time. Host Paul Mayer decided to apply the IPC categories from here on, which require separate leaderboards and medals in 8way, 4way Open and 4way Women. This step finally... (more)
News Article Did you know that the audience can now vote for or against the Super Sequence in Bedford?
posted: Jan 27th, 2012 The upcoming IPC Meeting with the discussion of modernizing the judging rules was leading into another attractive topic that is related to the World Challenge 2012. The rules for this indoor competition included an event specific special feature. Each competition draw has one sequence of only random formations. The judges had an "easy" time at the second World Challenge in 2007 when XL posted a 44-pointer for A,G,K,P,M. That changed quickly with increasing indoor training and the progression of the teams. The standing record for the fast round at Bodyflight Bedford is a 66-pointer that... (more)
News Article Did you know that additional point deductions have gained ground?
posted: Jan 26th, 2012 The current results of the NSL Poll related to the IPC rules (see story on 22 January 2012) for judging are still overwhelmingly supporting the application of slower speed reviewing. More visitors than before are now favoring the option of additional point deductions. One visitor brought up an interesting question regarding the difference of the outcome if different rules with the point deductions of 2004 and earlier were applied to current leaderboards. The last rules for scoring before the change in 2005 read as follows: A team will score one point for each visually judgeable correctly... (more)
