Did you know that the French 7-point damage in Round 1 is a mystery to many observers at the World Challenge 2012? posted: Apr 6th, 2012 It is a mystery so far what happened to Aerodyne Aerokart, the French national 4way team, in Round 1. The scoreboard shows a 7-point deduction, which means that the team completed 33 points within working time, one less than Arizona Airspeed and NMP-PCH Hayabusa.
The NSL News asked Hayabusa members and French competitors for any information without much success. French national coach Marin Ferre was stunned too and did not know what happened. He saw the marks on the scoresheet and did not know what was different compared to the performances of the other top teams.
He will have to take a closer... (more)
Did you know that the videos of Round 1 are available with live comments? posted: Apr 6th, 2012 The opening ceremony of the World Challenge 2012 on Friday morning took place in a crowded FlowHouse. 80 teams in 4way and more than 10 additional Freeflying teams were present for the welcome note by Paul Mayer and the competition draw.
The judges used the same cubes for the competition draw that came out of the hat at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012. It was a live draw, and it did not generate a Super Sequence. The teams have to go through an average 10-round competition draw.
The teams had approximately one hour after the competition draw to get ready for Round 1, which was... (more)
Did you know that XL had once again a special official training session? posted: Apr 6th, 2012 Thursday at the World Challenge 2012 ended with the official training session for all teams. The three minutes of flying time, split into two session of 1.5 minutes, has the purpose to determine the specific air speed for each team.
Most of the teams, in fact all teams except one, use this flying time to get the last motivational warmup feeling by using easy competition sequences. 90 seconds is still a long flying time for a working time of 35 seconds in competition, and many teams stop earlier to practice an additional "exit" into the flying chamber.
XL followed the tradition of using the... (more)
Did you know that Joey Jones once again competes with Black Majick and anchors the NSL News? posted: Apr 5th, 2012 Paul Mayer, host of the World Challenge 2012, has the same entertaining surprise for the audience that he offered last year in the Rookie Class competition. He has once again a Black Majick lineup that performs the belly flying sequences on the back. The only difference is the fact that his team has moved up into the A Class.
The NSL Reality TV camera captured the team during their preparations for a training session and then filmed the Black Majick in the flying chamber. Preparing the jumps on the creepers is not easy as those are built to be used by belly flyers. However, the Black Majick... (more)
Did you know that Arizona Airspeed, NMP-PCH Hayabusa and XL have completed their final tunnel training? posted: Apr 5th, 2012 Indoor preparation for a competition is a little bit different compared to outdoor competition. The day before an outdoor meet is usually a light day with only a few jumps for most teams. This is difficult to do on a day before an indoor meet. The teams buy their tunnel time in blocks and not by a few minutes of flying time.
Three of the top teams had scheduled their last training for Thursday, and the NSL-TV camera captured the last preparations by Arizona Airspeed, NMP-PCH Hayabusa and XL for the World Challenge 2012. There were no French teams at Bodyflight Bedford in the morning.
