News Article Did you know that the concept of two strong 4-way teams for 8-way success is not new?
posted: Dec 31st, 2017 The NSL News mentioned on 29 December that the Belgian success in 8-way with FlyIn Machine 44 was based on the concept of combining two well trained 4-way teams, NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash, and add some 8-ways to both teams' training and meet agenda. HayaBusa attended eight indoor and outdoor 4-way meets in 2017, FireFlash seven. The HayaBusa/FireFlash combination then competed at three additional 8-way meets with FlyIn Machine 44. The three 8-way meets were parts of events where both teams also competed in 4-way, French Indoor Nationals at Weembi, FAI World Cup in Saarlouis and USPA... (more)
News Article Did you know that the 7-1 Weembi Girls lineup outscored the 1-7 Veloce QRF lineup at Weembinamic?
posted: Dec 30th, 2017 The 2017 season was still not completely over after the Belgian Indoor Nationals. Julien Degen and his Weembi staff with other current and former French national competitors and world champions had their own last indoor meet of the year scheduled on the same weekend as the event in Belgium. This made it very difficult or impossible for any teams and competitors to attend both events, even though France and Belgium are neighboring countries in Europe. Liege (Fly-In host in Belgium) and Lille (Weembi host in France) are separated by roughly two hours of driving distance. It was not impossible... (more)
News Article Did you know that NMP PCH HayaBusa is also the world's leader in ultimate Formation Skydiving all-round competition?
posted: Dec 29th, 2017 The search for the ultimate 4-way world champion of the year brought up a topic that even extends the combination of 4-way outdoor and indoor competition. The NSL News mentioned in the same story that Black Cat is also competing in 8-way with Russia's national team Tanay: "Four of the Black Cat members (Valentin Ilin, Vasily Korotkov, Vladimir Pavlenko, Evgeny Stashchenko) will probably earn the title of the all-round multi-event competitors of the year." It would not be fair to reward this unofficial title to the Russian national 4-way team based on the fact that Belgian's FlyIn Machine... (more)
News Article Did you know that the 2017 indoor rankings in the AA Class are much more colorful?
posted: Dec 28th, 2017 The AA Class rankings are a very different story compared to the AAA Class that the NSL News covered two days ago. The NSL News pointed out that 15 of the 20 listed AAA Class indoor teams are also competing at outdoor events. Only five teams have attended exclusively indoor meets. This overlapping participation made the Top 10 rankings of the ultimate 4-way combination look very similar between the two different AAA Class disciplines. The AA Class Top 20 indoor rankings have barely a handful of teams that are also competing at outdoor events. One major reason is the fact that the 4-way... (more)
News Article Did you know that only a Belgian 3-way could set a new record in 4-way history next year?
posted: Dec 27th, 2017 The topic of the 3rd consecutive FAI gold medals in 4-way Open for NMP PCH HayaBusa at a World Championship of Formation Skydiving has been a part of NSL News updates here and there. The last time it was mentioned again was during the NSL Live Talk with HayaBusa coach Gary Smith on 8 December 2017. He was coaching the Qatar Falcons 8-way team at Skydive City and took some extra time for the NSL News with updates from Belgium and Qatar. It is no secret that HayaBusa is trying to win again next year in Australia, which would complete the mission of winning FAI gold medals three consecutive... (more)
News Article Did you know that seven nations share the Top 10 in the ultimate 4-way rankings?
posted: Dec 26th, 2017 The short winter break does not only allow the NSL News to add archived events and stories to the database and the public SKYLEAGUE.COM pages. It is also the right time to finish off the 2017 season with its final rankings in all Formation Skydiving categories. The 2017 rankings are calculated according to all meet averages that made it into the database this year, and they are separated by outdoor and indoor competition results. There are scores of 162 AAA Class teams listed in 4-way outdoor competition, and 151 teams have posted indoor results. The NSL News is beginning the 2017 review with... (more)
