Did You Know...

... that Thyra’s Arlene Storebø Is ready for her second outdoor competition?

Original Thyra lineup in 2022
posted Oct 14th, 2026 - The first preview updates ahead of the formation skydiving competition at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026 reported weather conditions that prevented teams and competitors from getting much training done before Round 1, scheduled to begin on Monday.

Conditions changed little throughout Tuesday, although at least a few loads managed to take off into the cloudy skies over Skydive Arizona. The latest NSL TV Unfiltered video clip shows just how challenging it was for staff and teams to cope with the rapidly changing weather. However, conditions returned to normal on Wednesday morning, and teams and competitors across all events were ready to make up for lost time. Many were already in line before manifest even opened.

The Norwegian 4-way Women team Thyra was among the teams that arrived early enough to enjoy several days of training in Eloy. After completing just one training jump on Tuesday, the team was ready to pick up the pace on Wednesday morning. As usual, the day began with the team’s morning routine, including a warm-up jog and stretching, before moving on to more event-specific preparations under the guidance of coach Carl-Erik Tuv. A former member of the DeLand Norgies, Tuv brings an impressive résumé to the coaching role, including three FAI 4-way Open Class bronze medals.

Thyra is one of four teams registered for the 4-way Women competition. The team is also the only Norwegian representative in formation skydiving at this year’s championship. Agera, which had previously been expected to contend for the unofficial internal amateur title on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard, withdrew from the competition, according to the second official FAI/ISC update. A total of 13 teams remain officially registered for the 4-way Open Class competition.

The 4-way Women team Thyra has demonstrated impressive resilience and passion since the project was launched by Carl-Erik Tuv and the Norwegian Skydiving Federation in 2022. The lineup has undergone several changes over the past five years, and Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, Carl-Erik Tuv’s daughter, is the only original team member still carrying the Thyra project forward with the same unwavering passion for 4-way skydiving.

Original Thyra videographer Dennis Barstad also remained in the lineup through this year’s Norwegian Outdoor National Championship in August. However, he was unable to travel to the United States for his second outdoor world championship with Thyra. Lars-Erik Sivertsen has now joined the team in Eloy to film the remaining training jumps and the competition rounds. Thyra and its changing lineups have participated in every FAI outdoor world championship and world cup since 2023, although the team has never fielded the same lineup in consecutive years. This year, Silvana Disch, one of the original members who joined the project in 2022, did not continue after the team finished fifth out of 13 teams in the 4-way Women event, with a 22.9 average, at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026.

Three of Thyra’s current members competing at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026 — Vilde Hansen, Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, and Arlene Kvarevål Storebø — competed with Torstein Valen, a former teammate of Carl-Erik Tuv in the DeLand Norgies, at Norway’s national indoor championship in March. Silvana Disch subsequently returned to her slot for the indoor world cup at Weembi Lille.

Later, Vilde Hansen, Arlene Kvarevål Storebø, and Ditta Valsdottir competed outdoors with NFTO’s Sian Stokes at Norway's 2026 national outdoor championship, where Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv was unavailable. Dennis Barstad was still filming the team at that event in August.

Now in Eloy, Vilde Hansen, Arlene Kvarevål Storebø, and Ditta Valsdottir have Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv back in her outside-center slot, while Lars-Erik Sivertsen takes over the camera duties from Dennis Barstad. Thyra will be aiming to set a new team record average and bring home FAI medals, all while giving Arlene Kvarevål Storebø the opportunity to attend her second outdoor competition, which is the upcoming world championship. The NSL News reported on May 10th that she had completed her AFF training earlier this year before moving on to outdoor training and competition with Thyra.
