Did You Know...

... that Thyra’s newest team member Arlene Storebø has completed her AFF training?

FAI European Championship awards: Thyra (right)
posted May 10th, 2026 - Yesterday’s NSL News update, which focused on the 4-way Women team Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen and the two German 8-way teams at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026, also mentioned the Norwegian 4-way Women team Thyra. Like Meltemi, Thyra entered the competition as a potential bronze-medal contender but ultimately found themselves clearly outside the medal positions.

Even so, Thyra managed to apply pressure on NFTO, who eventually secured 4th place, and they also outscored the U.S. team in the category, XP Angels, despite the American squad fielding a new and stronger lineup that included 4-way Women and 8-way world champion Jeana Billings. Thyra had already outperformed XP Angels at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, although both teams competed there with different lineups.

Thyra already knew at Skydive Teuge last year that they would not be able to match the French national team in 4-way Women and did not expect the situation to be any different at Weembi Lille. They were also aware of China’s strength in the category after facing the Chinese national team at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024. Their only previous experience against NFTO had come at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023, when the British team competed with a different lineup. NFTO’s lineup for the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026 — featuring Anna Lea, Vana Parker, Julia Swallow, and Sarah Ashworth — represented a significantly higher experience and skills level than the 2023 version of the team. Thyra therefore needed their new team-record average of 22.9 to apply pressure on the British team and remain within striking distance.

NFTO - Thyra at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026
2nd Place in 4-way Women: Thyra in Teuge
The NSL News reported on November 20th, 2025 that Thyra would continue with the youngest 4-way Women lineup in history. Anna Fasting had only stepped in to help during the 2025 season, while Arlene Kvarevål Storebø joined Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, Silvana Disch, and Vilde Hansen as the team’s new permanent member. This very young lineup faced NFTO, XP Angels, and Meltemi at the Indoor World Cup and delivered a highly successful performance in the new team’s first competition together.

However, one important piece was still missing before Thyra could also compete at outdoor events. New member Arlene Kvarevål Storebø first had to complete her AFF training earlier this year in order to join the team’s exits from aircraft. With that now accomplished, Thyra’s outdoor training can begin in June, leaving the new lineup just over three months to prepare for the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026.

In fact, this situation is not unusual for Thyra. The NSL News had already reported on August 17th, 2025 that “Thyra member Vilde Hansen started jumping from planes this year.” She completed her first skydives in May last year, earned her Norwegian A-license in June, and only two months and 150 jumps later obtained her FAI license, making her eligible to compete at the FAI Outdoor World Cup in Teuge. Vilde Hansen and Arlene Storebø were previously teammates on Norway’s 4-way Junior and 4-way Women team VossVind Girls. They now continue together with Thyra and are set to attend their first FAI Outdoor World Championship at Skydive Arizona in October.
