Did you know that last weekend's Scandinavian leaderboard is almost complete? posted: Apr 25th, 2011 Last weekend's Scandinavian leaderboard is almost complete. FAI Judge and Meet Director Jukka Olkkonen sent an update with the scores from Finland, while more scores from the Viking Challenge in Perris are still expected to be added.
Jukka Olkkonen reported bad luck with the logistics, which explains the low participation and scores for only two rounds. He said that the participation at the event was generally great and that the weather was perfect.
He added that the facilities in Jämijärvi, host of last weekend's event, are actually the best ones for skydiving in Finland. However, the... (more)
Did you know that Bardagi videographer Niklas Rodensjö delivers eye candy? posted: Apr 24th, 2011 The three Scandinavian teams at the International Bunny Meet were not the only ones competing this weekend. Three other teams from Norway and Bodyflight Atlas from Denmark attended the Viking Challenge in Perris. In fact, it was almost an exclusively Scandinavian affair, as Finland opened the 2011 season at the same time.
Germany's Final Four DeLand was the only team that is not from Scandinavia. This weekend's constellation is pure coincidence, as the hosts of those three meets scheduled their events independantly from each other.
The NSL News covered the DeLand event live at the competition... (more)
Did you know that the International Bunny Meet is in full swing? posted: Apr 23rd, 2011 The International Bunny Meet of the Florida Skydiving League is on its way in DeLand, and it features four teams from three different countries, Sweden (Bardagi, CADO), Germany (Final Four) and Denmark (Bodyflight Factum).
The name of the event is obviously related to the date of the event on the Easter weekend, and it expresses some hope at the same time that there might be a jackpot in the future, as the Shamrock Showdown has it in March every year. However, the Skins Game for other prizes takes place anyway.
The European teams have scheduled their training camps in DeLand around the Easter... (more)
Did you know that this weekend's meet brings back memories of 1998? posted: Apr 22nd, 2011 The upcoming competition in DeLand, the FSL International, features several teams who have recently been absolving their spring training. Two teams from Sweden, including top contender Bardagi, Bodyflight Atlas from Sweden and the German top team Final Four are eager to post some scores and show the results of the training efforts.
The NSL News was looking into archives, which are not in the current database that begins in 2003, to see what happened on the same weekend at the very beginnings of the National Skydiving League. The Florida Skydiving League held its 9th meet of the 1997/1998 season,... (more)
Did you know that the sequence of Round 10 was the ultimate Tail challenge? posted: Apr 21st, 2011 The Top 10 videos of Round 10 conclude this part of the aftermath of the World Challenge 2011.
It was another slow sequence, in fact the second slowest sequence of the competition, which followed the slowest one of Round 9. No changes were expected any longer for the money slots, and NMP-PCH Hayabusa pocketed the £5,000 for the 1st place easily. Arizona Airspeed won £3,000 and Aerodyne Aerokart Maubeuge took the £2,000 for the 3rd place. XL still got £1,000 for the 4th place.
However, there were still two open 1-point battles, as the NSL News reported yesterday: SDC Rhythm XP vs. SportsLotto... (more)
Did you know that the scores of Round 9 created two 1-point battles? posted: Apr 20th, 2011 Back to the World Challenge 2011 and the Top 10 videos of Round 9, which had the slowest sequence of the competition.
The three blocks would once again make it very difficult for any of the Top 4 teams to make a serious move. Nothing happened eventually, even though NMP-PCH Hayabusa lost two points in the judging room. Arizona Airspeed could only reduce the distance to the Belgians by one point, and Aerodyne Aerokart Maubeuge's next sole highscore did not change a thing in the standings.
The rankings of the Top 4 teams were in stone, and the sequence of Round 10 did not offer the potential... (more)
