posted: Mar 2nd, 2012 The recent NSL News coverage of the unofficial so-called "amateur teams" and their records and achievements serves only a very simple purpose, which is the well deserved additional attention. Most of the teams in Formation Skydiving competition and in skydiving competition in general consist in fact of passionate weekend amateurs who spend their time and money to train and compete. However, the winning teams on the top of the leaderboard usually get the biggest share of media attention, prize money and medals. News Article Did you know that Whooops and Veyron have a mini training meet in DeLand?
posted: Mar 1st, 2012 The NSL News story on 30 December 2011 explained what the Dutch national team of 2011, Whooops, was planning for the 2012 season. Whooops is going into the team's 8th season after launching the team project in the Dutch Rookie Class competition of 2005. The Rookie Class team of 2005 eventually represented the Netherlands as the national 4way team at the World Cup 2011 in Saarlouis, Germany. News Article Did you know that the Czech Rookie Class teams keep improving their indoor scores?
posted: Mar 1st, 2012 Three teams in the Czech Republic continued their monthly indoor competition series with another 10-round meet on Wednesday evening at Sportflight's Skydive Arena in Prague. Each of the three teams posted their highest meet averages of the winter indoor season. Czech meet and league director Jan Klapka said that his teams seemed to be a little bit tired, however, it surely does not show on the leaderboard. News Article Did you know that the unofficial USPA amateur record average by Mass Defiance is still standing?
posted: Feb 29th, 2012 The NSL News has given the unofficial amateur champions who compete in the Open Class competitions together with the pros a lot of attention in the past, at world championships and other international meets as well as at the USPA Nationals. One of the topics and team names that keeps coming back is Mass Defiance. The 4way team from New England (Ben Liston, Jim Rees, John Silva, Brian Stephens, with Scuba" Steve Feldman on camera) posted a 19.3 average at the USPA Nationals 2007 that has been challenged several times and year by year by other "amateur teams". posted: Feb 28th, 2012 The situation for an international lineup like Thunder is not easy if the team is eager to compete at the high-profile competitions in the world. Only national teams are eligible to compete at FAI/IPC events, and guest teams are usually not accepted. However, fortunately there are more and more other high-profile events where international lineups have the opportunity to compete directly with the best national teams in the world. News Article Did you know that Crimson Fox from Canada joins the international female 4way competition?
posted: Feb 27th, 2012 The NSL News reported on 4 October 2011 that Denmark enters the international Formation Skydiving community with a national team in the female 4way category. There is another country that has a new female lineup for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2012 in Dubai: Canada. Crimson Fox consists of Andrea Greening (Tail), Amanda Hoff (Center Outside), Renée Point (Point) and Stephanie Slinn (Center Inside). Benoit LeMay, the youngest of the three LeMay brothers, is coaching the team. Crimson Fox is registered for the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 in March in DeLand. It... (more)
