posted: Jun 3rd, 2012 The first test for a new German lineup with former members of the national teams in 4way and 8way was up at the Northern German Championships this weekend in Kassel-Calden. The seven teams completed nine rounds in the AAA Class and eight rounds in the A Class and the Rookie Class, which both have slightly different dive pools. Gamma Ray Kassel consists of three former X-Ray Remscheid members (Steffen Schiedeck, Uli Sehrbrock, Henning Stumpp) and Petra Bärenfänger, who trained and competed with the Chicas. Did you know that the US - Russian 8way showdown of 2003 created the biggest drama in history?
posted: Jun 2nd, 2012 The last part of the of Russian 8way team's story in the runup to the World Meet 2003 in Gap, France, explained that Russia completed recruiting the final lineup two weeks before the competition and was ready for the next showdown with the well trained and consistent Arizona Airspeed lineup. The 8way competition between Russia and Airspeed was thrilling enough in 1999, and it was even more exciting in 2001. However, the 2003 showdown beat everything that had been there before, and such a competition has not been seen again ever since. The NSL News reported live from Gap and explained the situation... posted: Jun 1st, 2012 The new meet weekend is right around the corner, which includes the next meet in Germany and the season opener of the Midwest Skydiving League. Little Big Cloud was also planning to send the next competition draw into the virtual 4way world on June 1st. However, League Director Al BeVier postponed the session for the next month, and he explained why: "Eye witnesses tell a horrific story of The Little Cloud website database being mortally injured after stumbling into the bonfire pit late one night earlier this week. Did you know that SportLoto launched the Russian 2012 season with an impressive 21.5 average?
posted: May 31st, 2012 New scores have arrived from Russia and a competition that was completed at the beginning of May. The skydiving center in Kolomna has hosted the season opener in Russia in the past years with an early meet in April/May. It was a very small field this year, however, the scores are impressive and promising. All three teams have appeared on NSL leaderboards in the past, at different times though. Sunny Heaven goes way back in time and had posted a 13.6 average at the Malevsky Cup 2005. That's seven years ago. The 2012 lineup now posted 15.6 average after ten rounds in Kolomna. posted: May 30th, 2012 Last weekend's leaderboard was completed with the first 2012 scores from the Czech Republic. It was a European affair, with meets in France, Finland and the Czech Republic. A total number of 36 teams combined for the largest outdoor leaderboard this year so far. 32 teams competed on the same wekeend last year, which included a few meets in the USA. The integration of the French AA Class teams compensated for a weekend without any meets in the USA. Did you know that teams in Finland launched the 2012 season with good weather?
posted: May 29th, 2012 May is still an early date for a skydiving event in Finland due to the Scandinavian weather. Last year, the 4way teams even tried to run a 4way competition in April, and two teams barely managed to complete two rounds. The 2012 season began a month later and three 4way teams completed up to nine rounds at the skydiving club in Utti. The Parachuting Club of Finland, located in Helsinki, is mainly using the Utti Airport this year after facing difficulties at the previous locations, first in Helsinki-Malmi, then in Hanko.
