News Article Did you know that the British top teams have moved closer together?
posted: Aug 24th, 2017 Participation was down this year at the UK Nationals, while the competition was as exciting as it usually is at the event. A total of 40 British 4-way teams competed at Skydive Hibaldstow and completed all scheduled rounds last weekend. It was not the FAI World Cup 2017 that kept teams from competing again, less than a week after the award ceremony in Saarlouis. In fact, all six AAA Class teams that had competed for Great Britain were back to post more scores after the short 4/5-round meet in Germany, due to the bad weather. This time, they were able to complete ten rounds in three days. The... (more)
News Article Did you know that each round could be the last one?
posted: Aug 23rd, 2017 The 8-way teams suffered the most of all Formation Skydiving events at the FAI World Cup 2017. Only three rounds were completed in the event that requires a higher exit altitude than the 4-way teams need. However, even the 4-way VFS teams, who need the same exit altitude for their working time, completed one more round than the 8-way teams. The number of rounds can surely be important for the outcome of a meet, and the French 8-way team may have become more a victim of the meteorological conditions in Saarlouis than the other teams in the same category. The French 8-way team in Saarlouis... (more)
News Article Did you know that bUSA Defiance was the best unofficial amateur team at the FAI World Cup 2017?
posted: Aug 23rd, 2017 The NSL News reported on 14 August 2017 that four nations each had placed two teams in the Top 10 on 4-way Open Class leaderboard of the FAI World Cup 2017, Belgium, with winner NMP PCH HayaBusa (1) and ISR FireFlash (8), France with RealFly-Sion (2) and Espoir Saumur Weembi (7), USA with SDC Rhythm XP (3) and bUSA Defiance (5) and Russia with Black Cat (4) and Barguzin (8). The US combination with SDC Rhythm XP (3) and bUSA Defiance (5) would be the winner of rankings by national delegations in the 4-way Open category. It was the first FAI outdoor competition for both teams, and it turned... (more)
News Article Did you know that teams from Texas could also compete for 4-way Intermediate Class medals?
posted: Aug 21st, 2017 The 4-way competition at the Pre-Nationals 2017 was very similar to the situation in 8-way, at least in the AA/Intermediate Class. It was also more competitive, as last weekend's leaderboard of the competition at Skydive Spaceland-Houston is showing. The teams in the first three places all shared the highscores for some of the eight rounds with each other. Dallas Interspediate, with player coach and meet organizer Scott Latinis in the lineup, collected five of the eight highscores and won the meet, yet only four points ahead of Babes on Our Bellies (BOOBs), who won only Round 4 with the fastest... News Article Did you know that The French 8-way Team beat last year's USPA gold medal average at the Spaceland Pre-Nationals this weekend?
posted: Aug 20th, 2017 The Pre-Nationals 2017 at Skydive Spaceland-Houston were successfully completed after eight rounds in all events. The teams now have five weeks until Round 1 at the USPA Nationals 2017 to fine-tune any areas of the 4-way and 8-way repertoire that has shown room for improvement this weekend. The event in Texas was the first completed one of several that took place this weekend, including the UK Nationals 2017. The 4-way teams at Skydive Spaceland-Houston will be able to compare their scores later only with other US teams, as the British national championships had a separate and different competition... News Article Did you know that the combined world cup leaderboard has three 4-way Women teams in the Top 10?
posted: Aug 19th, 2017 The NSL News mentioned in a preview for the FAI World Cup 2017 on June 9th that the participation would be the highest one since 1998. In fact, it became even better compared to the FAI World Cup 1998 where 32 teams competed in Portugal. The number of teams in 1998 included several teams in 4-way Women who had their first test event before the official integration as a separate category into FAI events. The combination of teams in 4-way Open and 4-way Women in Saarlouis added up to 38 teams, which is the highest number at a world cup in the history of the sport. The NSL News has once again... (more)
