News Article Did you know that all original Arizona Airspeed members competed once again at the USPA Nationals 2017?
posted: Oct 12th, 2017 The NSL News has covered the history of the Arizona Airspeed lineups several times in the past years, and the story on 3 June 2016 had evaluated the Airspeed roster more in detail. The roster overview was showing that the eleven years between 2007 and 2017 have been the most successful ones domestically, even though the lineups have changed more frequently than in the earlier years. The time period between 1994 and 2003 was covered by only two different lineups, beginning with the original Airspeed members Jack Jafferies, Dan, BC, Mark Kirkby and Kirk Verner, with John Lemming on camera, and... News Article Did you know that NMP PCH HayaBusa has good reasons to focus only on 4-way?
posted: Oct 11th, 2017 NMP PCH HayaBusa's visit at the USPA Nationals 2017 turned out to be very successful, as the reigning 4-way indoor and outdoor world champions from Belgium finished in 1st place on the Open Class leaderboard and placed 2nd behind the Golden Knights in 8-way with the Fly-In Machine 44. The 2nd place in 8-way with an 18.5 average was probably even more impressive than the 1st place in 4-way. HayaBusa was expected to outscore the two best U.S. 4-way teams, and the 12-point difference after the ten rounds in Perris was convincing enough to confirm the top spot in the world at this point in time. The... (more)
News Article Did you know that 4-way Team is not a bad word?
posted: Oct 10th, 2017 I was planning to continue with the evaluation of the 4-way families when Blue Skies Mag boss Lara came up with a few topics for the next issue, and I changed my mind. One of the topics was related to my favorite one and I have had a few thoughts about it in my mind for many years. How is your discipline (fairly or unfairly) stereotyped? Well, my discipline is obviously 4-way Formation Skydiving competition, even though I actually like 8-way just as much. I prefer 4-way actually only for a reason that is more a logistical one; there are not enough 8-way teams around to get good competition... (more)
News Article Did you know that the iFLY Sacramento rookies scored high again in September?
posted: Oct 9th, 2017 The recent comeback of Florida's Indoor Cloud League team at iFLY Orlando will naturally add more excitement to the 12+ leaderboard, as well. The latest scores and videos from Orlando will not affect the September leaderboard, as they were posted for the October sequences. However, the other ICL teams on the 12+ leaderboard soon have additional opportunities to measure their own performances with others, beginning this month. Northern California's league director and ICL organizer Lori Connor said that she welcomes Florida back and can't wait to compare her group's scores once again directly... (more)
News Article Did you know that a 25+ average was not enough for the first time in U.S. 4-way history?
posted: Oct 7th, 2017 The battle for the 4-way top spot in the United States and the tickets to the FAI World Championships of Formation Skydiving 2018 in Australia was as exciting as it promised to be, and the outcome was still the same as it has been in the past decade. Arizona Airspeed won the 11th consecutive set of USPA gold medals since DeLand Groove in 2006. However, the situation on the top of the leaderboard was still completely different compared to all previous USPA Nationals. The USPA Nationals 2017 was the first time that it was not a U.S. team that finished on the top of the Open Class leaderboard.... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Indoor Cloud League had a strong comeback in Orlando?
posted: Oct 7th, 2017 It was in February this year when the Florida Skydiving League held the last Indoor Cloud League event at iFLY Orlando before the first vertical wind tunnel for indoor training in the U.S.A. was retired for good. FSL teams and competitors continued at iFLY Tampa with the larger 14+ flying chamber and still continued to post some scores on the 12+ leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League. The new iFLY Orlando tunnel opened doors later this year, and ICL fans on the eastern side of Central Florida waited patiently for the next FSL Tunnel Kickers and Indoor Cloud League events at the new location...
