... that a 4-way Junior lineup at SkyVenture New Hampshire connects the Cunha and Ronalter families?

SVNH 2019 Winner: Ranch 2nd Generation
posted Jan 16th, 2020 - The field of teams for the annual SkyVenture New Hampshire Indoor Championship is almost complete. Organizer Ben Liston said that a few teams may still be added, as he can accommodate up to the maximum of 48 teams. The standing participation record was scored with 42 teams in 2016.

One of the few teams that have never missed the indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire was Ranch 2nd Generation. Unfortunately, the new assignments and very busy schedules of their current teams (Airspeed XP8 - Arizona Airspeed) do not even allow any of the former team members to make the trip to New Hampshire at the end of the month.

The R2G members used to compete with their own complete lineup at Ben Liston's event, and they always joined several other teams as player-coaches, as well.

Ranch 2nd Generation have won every time since they showed up in the A Class for the first time in 2016. A year later, they won the AAA Class competition and have defended the title successfully year by year. The 1st place in the AAA Class will be now available for a new SkyVenture New Hampshire champion this year.

Roger Cunha with Ranch Pulse in 2006
Host Ben Liston allows his participants to sign up in more than one team, as long as they compete in different categories, and not only the most experienced 4-way top competitors are available for additional player-coaching slots. The field of teams has always featured a very colorful mixture of all kind of different lineups.

This year, one of the two Rookie Class lineups caught the NSL News attention, as the last names of all team members sounded very familiar. Gen Z consists of Sofia and Marcus Cunha, Miina and Viivi Ronalter. It's a brand-new lineup of 4-way juniors, the Cunha siblings (10 and 14) and the Ronalter sisters (12 and 14).

The story behind this lineup even connects with Ranch 2nd Generation somehow. Their parents, Roger Cunha, Veera and Jack Ronalter, used to jump and train with their teams at the Blue Sky Ranch years back.

In fact, Roger Cunha was the director of the Ranch Skydiving League in 2007 and 2008. He trained and competed with 4-way team Ranch Pulse, who won the AA/Intermediate Class gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2007 and continued for another year in the AAA/Advanced Class competition.

Veera and Jack Ronalter (left) and Roger Cunha (right) at USPA Nationals 2010
Veera and Jack Ronalter have been around in the Formation Skydiving community just as long as the Cunhas. Veera Ronalter competed with another lineup from the Blue Sky Ranch, Ranch Delivery (David Gifford, Ivan Kaczor, Mario Mauro, Veera Ronalter), at the USPA Nationals 2009. She and her husband Jack Ronalter have been regulars for many years at the SkyVenture New Hampshire meets.

Veera Ronalter was still competing with 4-way teams in Finland, after she had already moved to the United States. The first names of the two Ronalter 4-way juniors (Miina and Viivi) originate in the Scandinavian country. In fact, Veera Ronalter also teamed up with another 4-way competitor from Finland (Nadja Lönnroth) at SkyVenture New Hampshire in 2017, who is now back in Finland and will compete with Blue Steel at the upcoming Wind Games.

Jack Ronalter found special passion for 8-way training and competition in the past years and has joined several different lineups of Martial Ferre's Veloce 8-way project.

The indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire will be completed before the Wind Games begin, and the Ronalter and Cunha families will be all over the four different leaderboards in all kind of different combinations. The four juniors will compete together for the first time in the Rookie Class...
