NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Mathieu Bernier succeeded with the first phase of his master plan?

8-way awards at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019
posted Oct 13th, 2019 - He did not even compete at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019, and he is still one of the winners after the conclusion of the event with the award ceremony on Saturday evening.

Mathieu Bernier has successfully completed the first part of his plan to win two gold medals at the next FAI World Meet 2020 in Tanay, Russia. He did not take two sets of gold medals back to France this time. However, his 4-way Women team won and left the British challenger NFTO further behind than expected, and the 8-way team left after a very strong statement in Eloy.

The French 8-way team did not win, while they were still showing very clearly that their starting position is probably better than they had expected themselves. It was only a 5-point difference to the Russian 8-way team Tanay that was left after ten rounds, and France managed to outscore U.S. team Paraclete XP8 at their first competition with the new lineup.

Mathieu Bernier said in the NSL Live Talk conversation that he has the full support for his plan by the French federation, especially after the successful showing at the world cup last week. There is no reason for him to change anything, and now he has almost a whole year to move his team up and above the gold medal level that the Russian 8-way team has set at the USPA Nationals and now at the FAI World Cup.

4-way Women awards at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019
Mathieu Bernier's new 4-way Women lineup confirmed his ambitious plan to win two sets of FAI gold medals next year with the 20.9 average and a 16-point difference to NFTO in 2nd place. Even the minimum training efforts for the French Weembi Girls were enough to maintain the top spot with the new lineup and new slots for the three returning world champions of 2018.

The success in Eloy will give the 8-way team and both 4-way teams even more confidence that they can live up to the expectations that their national coach has. Even the 4-way Open Class team is in a more promising position than expected. Once again they could not keep up with their female 8-way team mates (20.9 - 19.0) in Eloy.

They still finished in 2nd place of the national teams at the world cup. Only one of the four U.S. teams on top of the leaderboard, SDC Rhythm XP, will compete for the United States next year in Tanay, and they left Echochamber from Sweden behind at their first international competition.

NMP PCH HayaBusa and SDC Rhythm XP will be out of reach for France in 4-way Open, while they may see a slight chance now to compete even for bronze medals at the next world meet. Mathieu Bernier had a busy week in Eloy with very long days, and it will be like this for another year. The results of the world cup will probably encourage him and generate additional energy to pursue the first double-gold world meet for a complete lineup...
