Did You Know...

... that Golden Knights and Aerodyne Maubeuge both improved the record average of 1997?

Golden Knights watching the judging of Round 10
posted Dec 6th, 2012 - The NSL News coverage of the Mondial Dubai 2012 continues with the 8way competition. The final stretch was almost as exciting as the last round in 4way Open, which was decided with the last formation of the 10-round meet. The 279th formation of the meet was literally the maker (Arizona Airspeed) or the breaker (NMP-PCH Hayabusa).

It was very unlikely that Round 10 in 8way would have an impact on the final outcome between Golden Knights and Aerodyne Maubeuge. The 4-point difference was too much distance between the two best 8way teams in the world and in history. Finally they tied their scores once again and for the 4th consecutive time, which made France the winner of three and Golden Knights the winner of two rounds, with five ties.

Aerodyne Maubeuge eventually also scored the highest meet average in 8way history - but the new 25.5 highscore lasted only for approx. five minutes. Then it was time for the Golden Knights to watch themselves on the screen setting new 8way standards with a 22.9 average.

8way judge Eric Heinsheimer
Judge Eric Heinsheimer was the only active member of the Golden Knights 1997 lineup who have held the highest meet average (22.4) for the last 15 years. He was judging today's Round 10 and then joined the audience to celebrate together with the current 8way lineup of the US Army.

Matt Davidson was the alternate for the Golden Knights in 1997 and won his first gold medal in Turkey. He did not really count this, as he mentioned when the NSL News asked him for a commentary of Round 10 during the judging procedure.

The latest NSL Reality TV clip begins with the Good Morning From Dubai show where Martial Ferre visited the NSL News studio. He was still the reigning 8way world champion of 2010 at that point in time. Golden Knights team leader Brian "BK" Krause then commented more of Round 10 and the new record average when the 25-pointer was confirmed and the celebrations began.
