News Article Did you know that the scores of Round 10 and a Freeflying update conclude the World Challenge 2011?
posted: Apr 3rd, 2011 The World Challenge 2011 is over. Round 10 did not change anything. NMP-PCH Hayabusa won the indoor competition, and SDC Rhythm XP defended the 5th place successfully. Joey Jones and the NSL News spoke with Hayabusa after the last round and with Airspeed after the award ceremony. The videos of the conversations will be uploaded later. Now it's time for the final update of the Freeflying competition, once again provided by Piers Hampson. Day two kicks of with a bang as all the teams pull out all the stops with some of the cleanest flying we have seen so far in the competition. These... (more)
News Article Did you know that SDC Rhythm XP and SportLotto battled for the 5th place?
posted: Apr 3rd, 2011 The new video clip of the last round comes in a different order. The four top contenders are still at the end of the video. It still begins with two different teams next to each other this time. The first earlier race between ISB Air and Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders ended when the French team showed its teeth and pulled away round by round, similarly to the performance at the Shamrock Showdown 2011 where the Defenders gained momentum towards the end of the meet. ISB Air has now battled with Thunder for the last Top 10 spot. The most exciting race at the end took place between SDC Rhythm XP... (more)
News Article Did you know that the NSL-TV camera followed the French talent in the chamber?
posted: Apr 3rd, 2011 The NSL-TV camera entered the flying chamber ealier than usual for Round 9. It has been interesting to follow the two French national B-Teams who have been going neck to neck through the first eight rounds. They were separated by one single point after Round 8. 8-way world champion and coach Erwan Pouliquen is coaching the French B-Teams. Aerodyne Deep Blue Defender Laurence Hervé competed with one of the B-Teams from Dunkerque at the World Challenge 2010. Her team finished with an 18.7 average last year. Then she was selected for the new French female lineup and stands with a 24.8 average... (more)
News Article Did you know that creepers are well overrated?
posted: Apr 3rd, 2011 The videos of Round 8 have been posted, but the clip begins with a special review of Round 7. The NSL News mentioned earlier today that the sequence of Round 7 was a real tunnel sequence, as Round 3 and Round 5 were. Arizona Airspeed and SDC Rhythm XP found a very special and convenient way to prepare for Round 7. Thomas Hughes filmed it and provided the NSL News with the footage. Preparing sequences on creepers has become a dinosaur training method, and teams have become more creative with sophisticated jump preparations. It is easy to imagine that teams will never go back to creepers once... (more)
News Article Did you know that Round 7 was another tunnel sequence?
posted: Apr 3rd, 2011 Round 7 had a real tunnel sequence (14,B,17) which could even be trained in a 12-foot chamber. That was the case in Round 5, as well, and of course in Round 3. It was no surprise that all teams performed well in the second round of the day. There were still several different ways how to engineer this sequence. Almost the whole French delegation had the "hopper" of Block 17 (Danish T - Murphy) do a 180 turn to build the Bipole of Block 14, while the three team mates held their positions. This was only one of three or four different ways how to engineer the sequence. It was also a round where... (more)
News Article Did you know that the videos of Round 6 show a confident Belgian team?
posted: Apr 3rd, 2011 Here comes the answer to the big question, first with the videos of Round 6, then very soon with the new scores: "Can NMP-PCH Hayabusa maintain the top position?" The videos show another fast and sharp performance, with the fastest Block 11 (Photon - Photon). The judges will have the last word about the Belgian Block 22 (T - Chinese T). The NSL-TV captured a few scenes before the round began. The turnaround has the AAA Class teams start each round, from bottom to top. The AA, A and Rookie Class teams follow before the freeflyers complete each turnaround. It is Mother's Day, and the Guardian... (more)
