NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Fast Forward and Gang Green went back to the beginnings at the NPSL season opener?

Fast Forward gets ready for Round 1 on May 22
posted Jun 3rd, 2010 - The NSL News story on 23 May 2010 provided live coverage from the May meet of the Northern Plains Skydiving League.

The the story on 25 May 2010 followed up with video footage of the competition jumps. The video featured the AA Class competition at Skydive Twin Cities.

The NSL News captured more videos in Baldwin. This time, NSL-TV features the six rounds of Fast Forward, one of the two AAA Class teams at the NPSL 2010 season opener.

The video clip begins with an additional view of Fast Forward's Round 4 where HTH videographer Nick Halsett uses his freeflying skills.

Bill Rehm's first NPSL lineup: Infundibulum in 2001
The AAA Class competition in Baldwin brought together two of the longest standing teams and competitors in the country. Bill Rehm is one of the most passionate 4-way fans in the sport and has hardly missed an NPSL meet since the league was launched by Sandy Grillet in 2001.

He participated in the first NPSL year with a team called Infundibulum and competed with Sandy Grillet's first Microburst lineup in the AA Class. HTH videographer Nick Halsett was filming Bill Rehm's very first 4-way team in 2001.

His team name changed to Fast Forward in 2002, and the first Gang Green lineup with one of the most experienced skydivers in the country, Bob Stumm, joined the AA Class competiton that year. Bill Rehm and Bob Stumm both have competed at the NPSL meets ever since and once again at the 2010 season opener.

Fast Forward lineup of 2006
Bill Rehm maintained the Fast Forward team name until 2006. Point Steve Blake joined the team in 2004 and has competed together with Bill Rehm ever since. Kevin Burkart made it the same 3-way in 2006 that competed on May 22 in Baldwin.

Fast Forward moved up into the AAA Class competition in 2006, while Gang Green with Bob Stumm had made this move in the team's second year in 2003. The 2006 season included the first attendance of Bill Rehm's Fast Forward lineup at the USPA Nationals 2006.

Fast Forward stepped back down into the AA/Intermediate Class for the USPA Nationals and placed 7th with an 11.5 average. The 2006 season was also the time when Mary Bauer joined Bob Stumm's Gang Green lineup for the first time. She competed at this year's season opener, as well.

USPA bronze medals in 2008: Slipstream
Bill Rehm gave his AAA Class lineup a new name in 2007. He and Steve Blake competed for Good Game now.

Then the team name changed again in 2008. Slipstream, with Bill Rehm, Steve Blake, Jon Arnold, Aaron Hislop and Richard Barr on camera did again what Fast Forward had done in 2006. The team stepped down into the AA/Intermediate Class for the USPA Nationals 2008 and won the first set of medals for a team from the Northern Plains Skydiving League.

Slipstream placed 3rd with a 12.2 average and won the bronze medals. The AA Class competition practice at the NPSL meets in the early years and in the AAA Class in 2006 and 2007 had prepared the team well enough for the live challenge at the USPA Nationals 2008.

Bob Stumm's original lineup: Gang Green at the USPA Nationals 2002
Bill Rehm and Steve Blake gave their team project one more different name before going back to Fast Forward this year. Cosmos, Cash competed in the AAA Class at the NPSL meets of 2009 and was the only NPSL team in this category. Gang Green had stepped down into the more competitive AA Class, the first time since the team had started in the same competition class in 2002.

The 2010 season opener brought both teams back to the beginnings. Bill Rehm and Steve Blake, together with Kevin Burkart and new member Jon Gleisner, competed once again for Fast Forward after a 3-year discourse. Bob Stumm and his 2010 Gang Green lineup signed up for the AAA Class competition.

Fast Forward completed all six rounds over the meet weekend and kept in touch with the AAA Class teams from the United Kingdom. Gang Green had meet plans only for Saturday and was stopped after two rounds by bad weather conditions. The next NPSL meet is scheduled for June 19 at the same location.
