posted Oct 8th, 2026 - At the USPA Nationals 2022, three Arizona Airspeed alumni (Eliana Rodriguez, Craig Girard, and Matt Davidson), with Andrew Happick in the point slot and Taylor Buffington on camera, upset several more ambitious U.S. top teams and took the USPA silver medals in 4-way Open.

Nine of the ten competitors on the first two places of USPA's 4-way Open Class leaderboard had previously competed for Arizona Airspeed. The current 2022 lineup (Niklas Hemlin, Christopher Kuhlmann, Mikhail Markine, Joey Marshall, and Brendan Haddon on camera) won the USPA gold medals. Eliana Rodriguez, Craig Girard, Matt Davidson, and team videographer Taylor Buffington finished in second place. Only Andrew Happick had not previously trained and competed with Airspeed. Four of the nine Airspeed alumni already held 4-way world championship titles at the time: Eliana Rodriguez, Craig Girard, Niklas Hemlin, and Mikhail Markine. Christopher Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall would win their own FAI 4-way gold medals the following month in Eloy.

Matt Davidson already had multiple 8-way gold medals in his collection and was well trained in 4-way following his time with Arizona Airspeed in 2019. Andrew Happick had left SDC Rhythm XP at the end of the 2021 season. The second Airspeed alumni lineup competed under the name Hammertime and finished with a 20.4 average, eight points ahead of the new Rhythm lineup (204–196).

Hammertime 2.0 at the USPA Nationals 2026
Craig Girard, Matt Davidson, and Taylor Buffington must have remembered the team name, as they returned this year under Hammertime 2.0, reviving the name for a reunion. Eliana Rodriguez and Andrew Happick were unavailable for Hammertime 2.0 in Perris, so two other Airspeed alumni were happy to fill the open slots: original member Jack Jefferies and Brian Johnson.

Second place was out of reach this time, as Arizona Airspeed and the Golden Knights were both miles ahead of the rest of the field. The battle for the bronze medals was much closer, with SDC Rhythm XP successfully defending their third-place position once again ahead of Elsinore Elevate. Hammertime 2.0 had to settle for fifth place.

The Hammertime 2.0 lineup split up after the 4-way competition. Jack Jefferies and Brian Johnson continued with Airspeed's 8-way team and won the USPA silver medals in that event, while Craig Girard once again guided his Mandatory Fun! lineup. Matt Davidson won the 8-way competition with Paraclete XP8 and is now going after his seventh world championship title in 8-way. He had to fend off his 8-way teammates Jeana Billings and Jill Stephenson, who put some serious 4-way pressure on Hammertime 2.0 with Four Warned XP.
