posted Aug 29th, 2026 - The latest NSL Power Rankings reflected the situation in the run-up to the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026, following the NSL Live Talk with Gary Smith. The conversation with the NMP PCH HayaBusa coach prompted significant changes to the “speculative predictions” for the 4-way Open Class leaderboard, which was first published in May.

Gary Smith divided a larger group of eight teams—still represented in the up-to-date version in August—into four duels at different levels, while the expected medal positions remained unchanged. The same five duels, including the matchup between NMP PCH HayaBusa and Golden Knights, are still featured on the most recent leaderboard, despite the new information and the resulting changes.

One of the four duels will now at least become a three-way battle. Qatar coach Andy Grauwels, former HayaBusa 4-way world champion in 2014, 2016, and 2018, informed the NSL News that the Qatar delegation for the outdoor world championship will include a 4-way team. He will provide the lineup and further details as soon as possible.

Qatar's new 4-way team has now been added to the latest NSL Power Rankings, although the lineup is not yet known. The team currently listed is the Qatar Lions, who represented their country at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025. Any 4-way lineup from Qatar could turn any of the four duels into a three-way battle within the Top 10. The other changes to the new and current NSL Power Rankings leaderboard are not based on expert input from coaches or competitors. Instead, they reflect additional information the NSL News has received since the discussion with Gary Smith. The Top 10 positions have remained unchanged, even though final confirmation from Qatar regarding its lineup and from Spain regarding its registration are still pending.

NSL Live Talk with Gary Smith on 18 August 2026

South Africa's 4-way team Savolo, a Netunos 4-way lineup, and Indonesia had to be removed from the preview leaderboard, as there was no indication that the national 4-way teams from these countries would be registered for the event. The loss of the three teams was almost compensated for by two unexpected additions: the Qatar 4-way team and MeXtreme from Mexico.

MeXtreme are not new to an outdoor world championship. A different lineup competed at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2016, and the team also competed in the 4-way Intermediate Class at the USPA Nationals 2015, and again in the same category at USPA 2018. The current lineup will have to step up to AAA Class competition again at the outdoor world championship, just as the team did in 2016. Laura Escobedo, Jose Alvarez, and Roman Alba are familiar with the AAA Class dive pool after performing it in included Havoc2016. Luis Rios and Bruno Rodriguez complete the lineup for the event this October.

The previous NSL Power Rankings leaderboard also from Australia, the reigning national outdoor champions. However, Random Fixation will represent Australia at Skydive Arizona, marking their first international competition. Two national 4-way teams heading to Eloy 2026 are in competition action this weekend: SOAR from Great Britain and Skywalkers Most from the Czech Republic. They are expected to face each other in one of the Top 10 duels. Their results will provide new and very fresh data for the rankings, even though the teams are competing with different competition draws.
