posted Jun 8th, 2026 - Last weekend's NSL 4-way Network leaderboard almost marked the first occasion when Germany's national team in 4-way Open, Airbus 4-way Illertissen, and the Czech national team in the same category, Skywalkers Most, both with their current lineups, would share a competition draw and compare scores round by round. Both teams are expected to meet each other just behind the FAI medal contenders at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026.

Airbus completed ten rounds at the Paranodon Cup, while the Czech teams finished after eight rounds at their first outdoor competition of the year. However, the full Skywalkers Most lineup was not available for the competition, and Jan Klapka's M Team was the only team on the AAA Class leaderboard in the Czech Republic.

In fact, Skywalkers and Airbus have never met at any 4-way competition, either indoors or outdoors. The current lineups began their outdoor training and competition careers at different times. Skywalkers attended their first 4-way competition in the AA Class at the Czech July Meet in 2023, finishing with an 8.4 average in Most shortly after completing their AFF training. Airbus posted an 18.3 average a few months later at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023. It was the previous Airbus lineup—Sarah Mertes, Alexander Prendinger, Thomas Mack, Felix Pfeiffer, and videographer Dani Weiß—that represented Germany in Norway and returned a year later for the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, where they finished sixth with a 19.0 average.

The emerging Czech contender in 4-way competition first met the strong German lineup of 2024 at the ESL Championship 2024, one month before Airbus traveled to North Carolina for the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024. By that time, the young Czech team had already reached the 17-average level outdoors.

The ESL Championship 2024 remains the only outdoor competition where the two teams have competed against each other. However, it was still the previous Airbus lineup that attended the event in Saarlouis, Germany. The new Airbus lineup made its debut at the Shamrock Showdown 2025 in April of last year, while Skywalkers Most completed their first ten-round outdoor competition in 2025 at the Czech July Meet.

Airbus, now featuring Thomas Mack alongside his two sons, Tim (point) and Moritz (video), opened their 2025 campaign with a 16.5 average at Skydive DeLand. Meanwhile, Skywalkers Most were already performing at the 15+ and 17+ levels in July and August. The new Airbus lineup attended last year's Paranodon Cup, posting an 18.0 average in June, and improved to a 19.0 average after four rounds at the German Outdoor Nationals 2025 in August. Skywalkers Most then set a new outdoor team record with a 19.6 average at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, an event that Airbus did not attend.

Airbus 4-way Illertissen - Skywalkers Most at the ESL Championship 2024

The current lineups of Airbus 4-way Illertissen and Skywalkers Most have yet to face each other, either directly at the same competition or indirectly on a shared leaderboard. In fact, they have not even crossed paths at an indoor event. Airbus has focused primarily on outdoor training and competition and did not attend the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026 at Weembi Lille, where Skywalkers once again turned heads with a fourth-place finish and a 28.7 average.

However, both teams have set their sights on the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026 as their main objective this season, and Airbus returned to competition at last weekend's Paranodon Cup. Despite a particularly demanding draw, they came remarkably close to matching their performance from the same event a year ago.

The teams competing at the Paranodon Cup in Germany and the June Meet in the Czech Republic used the same NSL 4-way Network draw, which meant that last weekend could have provided the first indirect comparison between the two teams that are expected to meet at Skydive Arizona in October. Unfortunately, Skywalkers were unable to attend. At the same time, the British teams competed on a separate draw, while the opening meet of the Midwest Skydiving League 2026 had to be canceled. As a result, Airbus 4-way Illertissen faced no serious opposition at the Paranodon Cup and focused on making the most of the ten challenging rounds, which they accomplished successfully.
