... that the Swiss 4-way Women duel takes place no matter where?

Airdrops with coach Pete Allum at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025
posted May 3rd, 2026 - The initial NSL Power Rankings for the 4-way Women competition at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026 were compiled based on the first list of registered teams. NSL News reported on March 27th that the initial provisional entries for FAI/ISC events were due by January 25, followed by the final submission deadline on February 22.

The most recent update to the NSL Power Rankings was published on April 8th, the day before Round 1 at Weembi Lille, incorporating the final feedback from Dennis Praet. The 4-way Women field had grown from 11 to 13 teams, with the U.S. delegation adding XP Angels and NFTO set to compete for the British delegation.

The two additional teams—both expected to contend for medals—had a noticeable impact on the NSL Power Rankings, pushing the previous six bronze medal contenders down to 5th place. The second Chinese 4-way Women team had no scoring data in the NSL records and was therefore initially placed at the bottom of the rankings. However, their world-class performance once the competition began pushed those same teams even further down.

At the same time, two of the 13 teams in the 4-way Women field likely paid little attention to their exact placement on the leaderboard after each round. The two Swiss teams, Airdrops and WingX, are well accustomed to facing each other at competitions, whether in the 4-way Open Class or 4-way Women category. They almost always finish side by side on the leaderboard—just as they did again at the Indoor World Cup.

The long-running Swiss rivalry between Airdrops and WingX has been going on for years, with the two teams consistently performing at a similar level. As expected, they were already adjacent in the initial NSL Power Rankings and remained so in the final rankings before the competition. The pattern held true once again, with Airdrops and WingX finishing just one point apart (203–202). Coached by Pete Allum, Airdrops claimed the narrow edge, continuing their trend of having the upper hand in most of their previous Swiss matchups.

Airdrops (CH) - WingX (CH) at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026
WimgX at the ISR Grand Prix 2024
WingX began challenging Airdrops after a year in the AA Class in 2024. Airdrops had represented Switzerland at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 (6th place, 19.4 average), and they encountered their first Swiss rival in the 4-way Women category at the national indoor championship of 2024, where Airdrops won the initial duel by nine points (205–196). Just two points separated the same teams at the ISR Grand Prix 2024 (159–157), where they agreed to compete for qualification to the indoor world meet.

Airdrops went on to represent Switzerland again at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025, even though WingX had claimed their first victory in the matchup at the national indoor championship one month earlier. WingX maintained a narrow one-point advantage at the Weembinamic 2025 (195–194) before Airdrops reclaimed the top spot at the Wind Games 2026.

The FAI/ISC event format for World Cups allows up to four teams per nation, giving both Airdrops and WingX another opportunity to continue their rivalry at Weembi Lille. This time, two additional teams—Les Hermines (France) and Indonesia’s 4-way Women team—raised the competitive level of the duel into the 20+ average range, finishing only a few points behind.
