Did You Know...

... that Rounds 1 and 2 at Weembi are scheduled for Thursday afternoon?

FAI Indoor World Cup at Weembi Lille
posted Apr 8th, 2026 - Wednesday, March 8th, marks the final day before Round 1 at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026. The four NSL News leaderboards are now set for the final stage ahead of the first competition scores, and the speculative predictions in the NSL Power Rankings were reviewed one last time by NMP PCH HayaBusa team captain Dennis Praet.

His team spent Wednesday at Weembi Lille, where the Belgian lineup completed a total of one hour of flight time following their arrival. This Indoor World Cup will be the first opportunity for the current lineup to compete in Weembi’s 16-foot wind tunnel. During NSL Live Talk on Wednesday, Dennis Praet explained that airflow and entry systems can vary between tunnels, which is why the team completed two 30-minute sessions to familiarize themselves with the new environment.

He added that the team will likely use the airspeed test session on Thursday morning as a warm-up for the two rounds scheduled later that afternoon. Wednesday served as the official arrival day for delegations, judges, and event staff, with teams able to practice and receive evaluations from the same judging panel that will score the ten competition rounds. The airspeed test on Thursday morning will not be judged; instead, it is intended to help teams and tunnel operators fine-tune their coordination ahead of the competition.

4th French team in 4-way Open: Aerokart Ak'demie
Dennis Praet said that his team has put the distracting experiences at the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2026 behind them, even though they still hope that the scores on the official leaderboard—including the Super Sequence in Round 10—will eventually be corrected. He also shared additional insights into the timing differences between the end of the 35-second working time and the freeze-frame evaluation.

There were also some last-minute adjustments to the NSL Power Rankings, which became part of the discussion. The French delegation added a fourth team in the 4-way Open category, reaching the maximum of four teams per country at a World Cup. Dennis Praet noted that Aethers still appear to be out of reach for now, based on observations in the flying chamber.

The newly added fourth French 4-way Open team—alongside Aethers, Les Krocmous, and Oblivion—consists of current and former 4-way juniors from the Aerokart Ak'demie school in Paris. Based on their recent performances at the French national indoor championship, they have the potential to challenge for a Top 10 position. One of the teams affected by this increased competition is the U.S. lineup Killers of Hopes and Dreams, which no longer includes Jeana Billings and Kirk Verner from previous lineups. Their current roster faces strong opposition in the battle for Top 10 placements at the Indoor World Cup.

Back in action: Reigning 4-way Women world champions from China
Jeana Billings is now leading a different XPG4 lineup in the 4-way Women category. Natalie Arcia and Joy Jing previously competed alongside Jeana Billings and Jennifer Davidson at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2026. Former XP Falcons and XP Angels member Jillian Hix is making her XPG4 debut at Weembi Lille.

Dennis Praet noted that he once again observed a very strong Chinese 4-way Women team. It is the same lineup that won the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025 with a 29.2 average. He would not be surprised to see them reach a 30+ performance, which would pose a serious challenge to the French home team, Nephtys. In fact, such a level could even rival some of the 4-way Open Class teams behind Aethers, including NMP PCH HayaBusa—although medal positions remain unaffected due to the separate classifications for 4-way Women and Open.

China, Nephtys, and NFTO appear to be in solid medal positions, even with XPG4 entering the 4-way Women competition. NFTO is unlikely to challenge China and Nephtys for the top spots, but the team—featuring three members of its core lineup (Anna Lea, Julia Swallow, and Vana Parker), now joined by Sarah Ashworth—will continue to measure itself against the leading contenders. Former Chimera member Sarah Ashworth was also part of the Unruly lineup, which posted two world-class averages at Weembi Lille in November 2025 (29.0) and at the Wind Games in January (28.7).
