Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed finished with 35.6 after InTime CISM judging?

19th consecutive CISM title: NMP PCH HayaBusa in Austria
posted Jun 29th, 2022 - The training competition with the eight CISM sequences that Arizona Airspeed integrated into their most recent training camp became more interesting by the day, and it has received comprehensive attention by the NSL News and the audience.

The unofficial NSL leaderboard, with the combination of the official scores of the 2022 CISM World Championship and the unofficial Airspeed results during their training camp at Skydive Arizona, has changed slightly since the update from Austria was posted last Saturday. The Airspeed numbers for the first four rounds were added to the first unofficial leaderboard a day later. The scores were preliminary, and Airspeed was leading NMP PCH HayaBusa by seven points after Round 4.

The NSL News mentioned that it would be impossible to compare the scores realistically, as the meet conditions were very different. Gary Smith, who was present at the competition site in Austria, mentioned that the CISM judging methods and standards were different compared to FAI/ISC events and procedures.

The NSL News coverage continued next day after the completion of the eight rounds at the CISM competition. Arizona Airspeed were now 18 points ahead of NMP PCH HayaBusa, who had won their 15th consecutive CISM world championship title for Belgium.

InTime technology and CISM judges for Arizona Airspeed rounds
InTime technology and CISM judges: Unofficial Arizona Airspeed scores
The videos of Arizona Airspeed, with the footage of new team videographer Brendan Haddon, was still the foundation for the Airspeed scoring numbers on the unofficial leaderboard. However, there was hope that some CISM/FAI/ISC judges would take the extra time to evaluate the additional Airspeed videos after the completion of the CISM event.

InTime's Dirk Venter, also still live in Austria, was able to motivate a complete panel of five judges to graciously give up their free time and add the extra judging, together with the event judge, Jurate Janusauskiene.

Yasser Mohsen, Mohd Alhajri, Mustapha El Bouskouri, Thierry Courtin and Dirk Venter used the same InTime technology and judging procedures, under Jurate Janusauskiene's supervision, for the eight Airspeed rounds as they had done before at the CISM competition, and the new videos provide the same features as at FAI/ISC world meets and world cups.

The Airspeed lead grew from 18 to 21 points after the unofficial evaluation by the five CISM judges. Airspeed completed the eight rounds with the lowest number of point deductions (3) between the three 4-way top teams in the world at this point in time.

NMP PCH HayaBusa at the USPA Nationals 2019
Airspeed target: HayaBusa's historic 28.9 average at the USPA Nationals 2019
The U.S. team allowed NMP PCH HayaBusa only to tie one Round (2) and won the other seven. The Qatar Tigers ended up 42 points behind Arizona Airspeed and 21 points behind NMP PCH HayaBusa. Airspeed's 35.6 average is still the team's new indoor/outdoor record number, while all Airspeed scores are unofficial results.

The scoring numbers will now drop back to the FAI/ISC level when all three teams will meet again online for the NSL Pre-Nationals Cloud at the end of July for the next unofficial training competition.

No 4-way team has yet stepped beyond the 30-average threshold in a 10-round meet, with or without a Super Sequence. NMP PCH HayaBusa posted the currently historic 28.9 average at the USPA Nationals 2019. That's a number that Arizona Airspeed's current lineup surely have in the backs of their minds.

The ultimate showdown this year will take place at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022, with Arizona Airspeed on the same home turf where they just posted the unofficial 35.6 CISM average. However, the world meet conditions will still be far from similar compared to usual team training.
