... that NMP PCH HayaBusa won the 15th consecutive CISM title for Belgium?

15th consecutive CISM title for NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted Jun 27th, 2022 - The 4-way Formation Skydiving competition of the military CISM world championships was successfully completed with the event's eight rounds, and David Grauwels won his 15th consecutive CISM title for the Belgian military services. So far, the NMP PCH HayaBusa plans are working out perfectly by bringing the team's FAI/ISC videographer back into the active lineup just for this event.

Dennis Praet won his 12th CISM gold medal, Jeroen Nollet his 7th. Michele Silvi won his first one last year and begins to create his own collection. At this point in time, NMP PCH HayaBusa is still the only team in the history of the sport currently owning world championship titles in all three 4-way categories of horizontal Formation Skydiving, 4-way intoor, 4-way outdoor, 4-way CISM.

With David Grauwels in front of the camera, NMP PCH HayaBusa needed a new team videographer for the CISM event, and Koen Vangestel was filming the team for the eight rounds in Austria. It was a fortunate situation for HayaBusa, as the CISM rules have the working time start after five seconds, or whenever the team is breaking each sequence's first formation, the Star (M).

The CISM videographers may miss the exit and even the first few seconds of the skydive, and there will be no consequences with point deductions. It happened a few times in Austria, and NMP PCH HayaBusa would have been in big trouble at FAI/ISC competitions. However, Koen Vangestel had the Star in the frame timely, and his team did not loose any points in Austria due to video troubles.

NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers at the 2022 CISM World Championship
Unique HayaBusa CISM lineup in Qatar 2021
The NMP PCH HayaBusa lineup at the CISM event had just as little opposition as in the past years, even though they competed together for the first time at a CISM world championship. Andy Grauwels was still competing for the Belgian military last November before he left the team. He and Michele Silvi had their first meet together in Qatar.

David Grauwels is switching back to the camera slot from here on forward until the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022 in October, and Neal Willems takes his inside center slot. David Grauwels has been flawless on camera ever since he became the HayaBusa videographer, including the outdoor world championship title at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 in August last year.

The Qatar Tigers were back with another strong performance and the next set of CISM silver medals, while they still ended up 21 points behind NMP PCH HayaBusa, after winning the last round. They were even further ahead of the team in the bronze medal position, the German CISM team.

The real 4-way challenge for NMP PCH HayaBusa begins right now, as Arizona Airspeed are trying to change the Belgian 4-way dominance. The first step on the way to world championship titles was the victory at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, even though Qatar Tigers and the strong Russian 4-way teams were not present at Airspace Charleroi.

Online Guest Team Arizona Airspeed with Rounds 1 - 8 of the 2022 CISM World Championship
First CISM title for NMP PCH HayaBusa in 2007
Arizona Airspeed could not win the military CISM title, however, they can use the competition sequences during their training to compare the current performance levels unofficially. They provided the NSL News with the video footage of the eight rounds that they performed last weekend at Skydive Arizona, parallel with the military competition action in Austria.

It's the same place where NMP PCH HayaBusa will face the biggest challenge of their team career since they won their first world championship title in Prostejov 2014. Arizona Airspeed will be more than ready to win their first FAI/ISC outdoor gold medals since Dubai 2012.

Arizona Airspeed's current lineup outscored NMP PCH HayaBusa by 18 points, according to the preliminary scores on the unofficial NSL leaderboard. InTime's FAI judge Claire King, who has experiences with CISM events, as well, is currently evaluating the Airspeed videos and will try to apply the same rules and standards of CISM competition.

The judges at CISM events have significantly more technical and logistical options to find infringements, and the number of point deductions for Arizona Airspeed may still change. However, the performance is impressive enough, and the meet average compares well to previous HayaBusa results at CISM events.
