Did You Know...

... that the Norwegian FS 2022 4-way project is showing serious results?

Awards at the Danish Outdoor Nationals 2021
posted Jul 28th, 2021 - The NSL News reported on July 12th that Kjetil Nordin owns national 4-way and 8-way titles in Norway and Denmark. He had won the Danish Outdoor Nationals 2021 with Sequence, and he was still reigning Norwegian 4-way and 8-way champion of 2020. The Danish 8-way championship is still coming up at the beginning of August.

He went back to Norway shortly after Denmark's 4-way championship event, and he cannot defend all his Scandinavian titles any longer. The Norwegian national team in 4-way Open, Agera FS 2022, surprised Kjetil Nordin's pickup team for this year's event, Blue Bellycan, with an unexpected 16.9 average.

The 4-way veterans were not prepared for such a strong performance by the young 4-way competitors in the national team, and there was no chance for any other team on the AAA Class leaderboard to get even just close. Agera claimed all eight highscores for each round and won with a new team record average, which was significantly higher than their last one (13.9) in July 2020.

Even Punky Fish's winning average of 16.4 last year, with two Norgies in the lineup (Lise Aune Nansen, Pål Kolbenstvedt), Arcteryx member Ole Petr Hjelle and Kjetil Nordin would probably not hold off the new Norwegian national team at their third national championship.

Agera at the Norwegian Outdoor Nationals 2021
Kjetil Nordin was not disappointed at all. In fact, he gave the new Norwegian 4-way champions all the credit that they had earned: "I am actually moved by their performance. I have liked these youngsters very well for a long time, but I am beyond impressed by their progress this year. And they are my new heroes. I did not expect them to be as good as a 17-average team. And I am super stoked that Norway has a national team of this level now."

Agera FS 2022 were his opponents in 4-way and his team mates in 8-way. The complete Agera lineup joined forces with Kjetil Nordin's team (Derek Nordlund Broughton, Sondre Armand Tommervold, Ole Petter Hjelle, with Kristoffer Overli Andersen on camera), and Pal Kolbenstvedt joined the 8-way celebration, as well.

Kjetil Nordin was enjoying the 8-way competition just as much, and he defended this title successfully without much serious opposition:

"It was incredible getting to jump 8-way with Agera, and with Ole Petter and his Arcteryx team mate Derek, plus Pal of the Norgies. So four generations of Norwegian national teams were there, mine being the lowest scoring one. That makes you humble and grateful. I love our sport... "He was relating to his own 4-way team X3M4S Elements who competed for Norway at the FAI World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia.

Team mates: Father Carl-Erik and daughter Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv
The Norwegian FS 2022 4-way project is showing great progress and serious results. DeLand Norgies member Carl Erik Tuv, triple FAI 4-way bronze medalist of 1999, 2001 and 2003, launched the project in 2019, as the NSL News reported on 9 August 2019. Ten 4-way teams had competed in 2019 and 2020, and the number went up to a total of 16 this year.

Agera extended their participation soon until 2022, even before the cancellation of the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 was announced. The re-scheduled event next month is still the team's first world championship experience, and they will have a second one next year in Eloy.

Three other project teams (Skyla, URUS, Avecillas) competed at the national championships this month, with their respective Agera members as player-coaches. Project member Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv (Skyla) competed with two teams, as well. She had her father Carl-Erik Tuv in the Mixed Trouble AAA Class team. She had started with one of the first FS 2022 teams in 2019 (Volare), together with Kristoffer Overli Andersen, who is now on camera for Agera. He was also filming the 8-way winner.

Kjetil Nordin transitions to Danish 8-way competition next, where he has the next title defense coming up...
