... that Elsinore teams swept the Advanced Class leaderboard at the USPA Nationals 2004?

Elsinore Adrenaline in 2004
posted Jun 25th, 2021 - The 4-way Advanced Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2004 became the most successful year for Skydive Elsinore with the big sweep of all medals in this category.

However, the winner, Elsinore Adrenaline, followed the pattern of the previous Advanced Class champion teams and did not continue in 4-way Open. It was the last meet of a 3-year journey to the top of the Advanced Class leaderboard.

Elsinore Adrenaline made it to the USPA gold medal position in a very different way though. The team's first lineup (Tammi Rettig, Louis Ascione, John Hamilton, Jacquelyn O'Bryan, David Szkaradek on camera) started in the Open Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2002.

The NSL News reported in 2002 that Elsinore Adrenaline "began with a lot of built-in experience with John Hamilton (Elsinore Matrix and Arizona Airspeed) as the player-coach, Lou Ascione (Arizona Inertia), Tammi Rettig, Jaqi O’Bryan and Dave Szkaradek (Elsinore Enigma)".

Elsinore GT in 2004
Tammi Rettig, John Hamilton and Lou Ascione were back for the 2003 season, with Dave Szkaradek again on camera. Melanie Curtis joined the team to replace Jaqi O'Bryan, who accepted a slot offer of the U.S. national team in 4-way Women, Syncronicity.

The new Adrenaline lineup trained a lot and decided to step down and compete for medals in USPA's Advanced Class at the Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales.

They missed the top spot by four points after ten rounds, and Spaceland Inferno became the new USPA Advanced Class champion.

Elsinore Adrenaline were back in the same category a year later for the competition around the corner in Perris. Jon Martens, former member of Formula 4 and Elsinore Illusion, replaced Lou Ascione as inside center.

John Hamilton had accepted the slot as player-coach for Elsinore Satori, and former Arizona Inertia member Jim Browning took the tail slot. Shane Rex replaced Dave Szkaradek on camera.

Elsinore Satori in 2004
Elsinore Adrenaline's 2004 lineup attended three meets of the Southwest Skydiving League and still finished behind Elsinore Satori at the last league meet, just three weeks before the national championships.

The three teams from Elsinore were finally separated by only three points at the end of their own battle for the USPA Advanced Class medals, and they fended off Mass Defiance by another point.

It was the first USPA championship for Mass Defiance who would succeed Elsinore Adrenaline a year later as the next Advanced Class champion.

Elsinore GT were back for the Advanced Class competition in 2004 and for Skydive Elsinore's delegation at the USPA Nationals 2005, together with a new Elsinore Gravity team and former Adrenaline members Melanie Curtis and Lou Ascione. None of the 2004 teams competed in the Open Class of 2005.
