... that Spaceland Inferno members continued in 4-way Open as individuals?

Windline Lightning on home turf in Lake Wales 2003
posted Jun 13th, 2021 - The AA/Intermediate Class rules and dive pools had settled for good at the USPA Nationals 2002. The 16 blocks without any slot-switchers and all 16 random formations have created the ten sequences for the event in 2002 and until now.

Increasing the number of rounds from six to ten was the last move that was made for the 2002 championships. Teams in USPA's Intermediate Class completed only six rounds until 2001. Six rounds on 2-day meet weekends were also the standard for National Skydiving League events from the very beginning.

Juggernaut won the first 10-round meet in the new Intermediate Class at the USPA Nationals 2002, and the Texas team was a part of the story that pointed out teams and competitors who won USPA Intermediate and Advanced Class gold medals consecutively. The NSL News update on January 23rd had covered Jim "Bu" Klinge's achievement. Windline Lightning, another team that competed frequently at the Florida Skydiving League meets, won the next AA/Intermediate Class gold medals in 2003, after ten rounds on their home turf in Lake Wales.

USPA now applies the 6-round format for the new "Beginners Class" that will be introduced as a test event at this year's national championships. This USPA category is identical with the A Class of the international NSL 4-way network.

4-way Open Class bronze medals: Defiance in 2019
The USPA Advanced Class winner of 2003, Spaceland Inferno, was the second half of Jim Klinge's story. Inferno was also a continuation of USPA Advanced Class winners who were not seen again on the 4-way Open Class leaderboards in the following years.

Jim Klinge and his Inferno teammates Dave Burton and Clint Hillis (Camera) did continue as individuals and competed with Dallas Thunder in the Texas Skydiving League, as well as in the Open Class of the USPA Nationals 2004.

Jim Klinge is still active now and won a USPA gold medal in the 4-way Open Class with Defiance at the USPA Nationals 2019.

Inferno member Alex Pincus continued with 4-way Open Class team DeLand Mojo, and Jim Walker completed the presence of all Inferno gold-medal winners in the 4-way Advanced Class of 2002 on the Open Class leaderboard a year later.

He had trained and competed with Texas Skydiving League team Rave, who were also on the Advanced Class leaderboard when Inferno won the gold medals. Jim Walker had a 4-way comeback in 2019 at one of the Indoor Cloud League events at iFLY Dallas.
