... that Sky4ll gear up to challenge Denmark's CISM 4-way team?

VAF Warriors at the FAI World Meet 2014
posted Feb 16th, 2021 - The last NSL News update from Denmark was posted after last year's national outdoor championship, where three AAA Class teams competed for the 4-way title and the tickets to the next FAI outdoor world meet, which is the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 in August this year. It was a close race, and the Danish CISM team, formerly known as VAF Warriors, won by four points after ten rounds.

The same three teams have been working on their plans for the near future ever since, and the corona virus crisis allowed them more time at the drawing board than they may have liked to have. However, they produced promising results and the creation of a new 4-way project in cooperation with the Danish skydiving federation.

One part of the new plans was the hiring of coach Joey Jones for the world meet year. The Danish CISM team, last year's winner of the national outdoor championship, decided earlier not to compete at the world meet, and Sky4ll were glad to fill the open slot for Denmark.

The plans for the new 4-way project include both AAA Class teams behind the CISM team, Sky4ll and Subsonic, and team member Hans Linding Oksen explained the details of the plan in a new NSL Live Talk online, together with team and project coach Joey Jones.

Pangaea at the FAI World Meet 2016
Denmark's CISM team, the former VAF Warriors, are not a part of the federation's project plans. They represented Denmark at the FAI World Meet 2014 before Pangaea became the national 4-way team and competed for Denmark in 2016. There was no Danish team in Australia 2018, the first time since 1985 that Denmark missed a world meet in 4-way Open.

Sky4ll member Hans Linding Oksen, who was also in the Pangaea lineup between 2015 and 2018, said that the CISM team continues with 4-way training and competition and with the same team members as in the past. The battle for the 4-way top spot in Denmark between the military and the civilian teams will probably be heating up.

The two different team environments are more separated than they were in the past. The 4-way lineups of the earlier Danish national teams (DaneZ, Voluntas) were often combinations of civilian and military 4-way competitors. There is no overlapping in the lineups in the recent years.

The lineups of the two civilian project teams are changing, while the project managers are also trying to recruit new and young skydivers for the coming years.

Vibeke Birk Tiedemann (Point), Flemming Andersen (Outside Center) and Hans Linding Oksen (Tail) are coming back with Sky4ll, and Anders Krabbenhøft continues on camera, as well. He was also filming Pangaea in 2017 and 2018.

Ulrik Høgsberg is taking the inside center slot for Sky4ll. He was in earlier Danish 4-way project teams and team mate with Vibeke Birk Tiedemann for Sequence between 2007 and 2009. He moved to Norway for several years and competed in 4-way VFS with Blue Pelican, Norway's national team in 2016 and 2018.

Hans Linding Oksen also introduced the project's official B-team, which has been competing as Subsonic in 2019 and 2020. Only Lars Mølvad Jensen and Joshua Pierce are coming back after a year in the A Class, followed by the first AAA Class experiences in 2020. Stefanie Skalborg Andersen and Troels Jessen are the new B-team members for Subsonic.

Sky4ll were already very close to the CISM VAF Warriors last year, and the new lineup with coach Joey Jones will most likely challenge the reigning Danish 4-way champions even much more than before. The civilian team could bring the next change of the 4-way power rankings in Denmark.
