Did You Know...

... that female 4-way competitors have a vast majority in the Czech Republic?

4-way Open Class at the world cup: HF Flying Circus
posted Feb 19th, 2020 - As usual, things are moving quickly in the Czech Republic. HF Cubs and HF Flying Rebels completed seven 10-round meets between November and February, HF Flying Circus and HF Dragonflies six meets, and most of the other Czech 4-way teams competed at each of the four meets of the World Tunnel League since November, as well.

The AAA Class leaderboard of February is showing HF Cubs the second consecutive time on the top. The NSL News story on 17 November 2019 had pointed out that the HF Cubs joined NFTO and French Weembi Girls in their countries' 4-way top spots. HF Flying Circus took back the top spot at the December and January meets, which added even more excitement to this domestic duel.

After the two meets with different lineups, including alternate Tereza Zívalová and random substitute Jan Lukavec in December, the HF Cubs were back with the complete lineup at the last two meets. They first won the Czech Open Indoor Championship with the 26.5 average and followed up last week with 26.1 for the ten February rounds.

HF Cubs and HF Flying Circus both still have at least one more 10-round meet coming on home turf before competing at the FAI Indoor World Cup in April.

AA Class challengers: HF Dragonflies
It's not only the female 4-way power of the HF Cubs that stands out, together with the 4-way Women teams in France and Great Britain. The Czech leaderboards are full of lineups with female 4-way competitors.

The all-female HF Chicks team, now with two former HF Cubs in the lineup (Kaja Svejdová, Tereza Zivalova) were back in action in January and took the 3rd place. HF Flying Circus members Lukas Kaderabek and Jakub Klapka were the only male 4-way competitors on the 4-way AAA Class podium.

The team in 4th place, 4 V Tunelu, is an all-female lineup, as well, and M Team and Accord each have a female team member. The complete AAA Class leaderboard consisted of 16 female and 8 male competitors.

It is not much different with the new generations of Czech 4-way competitors. The juniors of the HF Dragonflies are four young female teenagers, and the lineup of the HF Flying Rebels includes Denisa Jeziakova and Maruska Psenickova. Milada Vankátová trains and competes with Hight Five, and Mimozemky is another all-female team. The Czech AA Class teams have a total of 10 female and 6 male team members.

Youngest Czech 4-way junior generation
The next generation of the Czech A Class juniors has a similar relationship between the genders. Aleš Marýsko of the HF Chameleons is training and competing with his three female friends, Anastasiya Okhmar, Anežka Opálková and Krystýna Cejkova. Rusalky and HF Invisible are the next all-female teams, which makes it an 11 - 1 balance in the A Class.

It's not only the clear majority in quantity of female 4-way competitors in the Czech Republic (37 - 15 on the February leaderboard) that stands out. The HF Cubs have also confirmed the quality by taking back the 4-way top spot in January and February.

Now they will soon measure up with the best 4-way Women teams of the world in Charleroi on a separate leaderboard, while the female HF Flying Circus and HF Flying Rebels members compete in 4-way Open and 4-way Junior. The FAI/IPC is not offering a female 4-way junior category, and the HF Cubs are still the reigning world champions.

The HF Flying Rebels will represent the Czech Republic at the world cup, even though they lost the February competition against the HF Dragonflies. Jan Klapka said that the Flying Rebels are still ahead by roughly one average-point. The Flying Rebels did not have their complete lineup available, and Dragonflies member Lada Jirkovska helped out by doing double-duties.
