Did You Know...

... that the HF Cubs join NFTO and French Weembi Girls in their countries' 4-way top spots?

HF Junior Cubs in 2015
posted Nov 17th, 2019 - It was probably only a matter of time, while it may have happened earlier than expected: the HF Cubs have become the strongest 4-way indoor team in the Czech Republic.

The NSL News have covered the progression of the Czech 4-way Junior world champions ever since the team members began with Indoor Cloud League and regular 4-way competition with Jan Klapka's 4-way junior project at the Hurricane Factory in Prague. The transition of the HF Cubs from 4-way Junior competition to the 4-way Women category after the FAI Indoor World Meet at Weembi Lille in April was also covered comprehensively.

The HF Cubs began challenging the Czech national indoor and outdoor 4-way Open Class team, HF Flying Circus, even before they were done with AA Class competition and won the world championship title in 4-way Junior. They have been training the AAA Class dive pool beginning in 2018 and posted their first AAA Class scores at the World Tunnel League meet in November the same year.

They went back to the AA Class dive pool only to get ready for the 4-way Junior competition at the indoor world meet, while they moved closer to HF Flying Circus step by step and month by month at the same time. The first meet of the Czech indoor winter season this month brought the final move to the top position of the Czech 4-way indoor community.

It is probably still not too much of a surprise for Jan Klapka and his teams and for observers. The HF Cubs are exclusively indoor experts, even though they are getting ready to continue with outdoor competition as soon as all team members have completed their skydiving student training.

HF Flying Circus and other outdoor teams focus on outdoor training and competition during the summer season, even if they use the wind tunnel as a training tool, as well. The 4-way junior teams train only indoors and are well prepared when the Czech indoor winter season begins.

The Czech Republic is now the third country where 4-way Women teams have taken the 4-way top positions. NFTO have won the national championships in 4-way Open two consecutive times, and the French Weembi Girls have been holding the national top spot for roughly the same time period.

The HF Cubs have won only one AAA Class indoor competition over HF Flying Circus so far, who have two female team members, as well, with Dagmar Bezdeková and Martina Vavackova. Both teams also have a very friendly relationship, and the HF Cubs have benefited from help and advice from the Flying Circus members. Both teams will continue pushing each other to higher performance levels.

4-way Open Class indoor and outdoor: HF Flying Circus
The move of the HF Cubs into AAA Class and 4-way Women competition brings new exciting aspects to this category. The 25.0 average at the first WTL competition in November moves the HF Cubs right away very close to the FAI medal level. The HF Chicks had placed 5th for the Czech Republic at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 with a 21.6 average.

There was no Czech 4-way Women team at Weembi Lille in April this year when the HF Cubs won their 4-way Junior title. They will now represent their country in 4-way Women at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2020, and the current 25-average level will most likely turn into 26+ or even higher.

In the meantime, and in the wake of the HF Cubs success, the next Czech national team in 4-way Junior has made similar progress. The NSL News reported on March 15th that the HF Flying Rebels have been selected to step up into the Czech 4-way Junior slot. They now started their indoor competition season with the first 20+ average.

The HF Flying Rebels have their friendly challenger, as well, as the HF Dragonflies missed their own first 20-average meet by only two points. Behind these two 4-way Junior teams in the AA Class, the next two Czech junior lineups have moved up from the Rookie Class to A Class competition, where the HF Chameleons try to defend their top spot. Welcome to Jan Klapka's 4-way junior factory in Prague...
