Did You Know...

... that World Challenge training continued on Thursday?

Gary Smith with the Qatar Tigers
posted Apr 4th, 2019 - The second NSL Live TV video clip from Twinwoods Adventure in Bedford was still recorded on Wednesday evening and features more teams in training.

SDC Rhythm XP had their training session when Arizona Airspeed had already checked out. The NSL-TV camera now had the opportunity to follow Rhythm on their way into the flying chamber. However, Airspeed was back on Thursday to get more familiar with flying chamber and air flow, and NMP PCH HayaBusa was back for more training on Thursday morning, as well.

The U.S. duel goes into this year's third edition at the World Challenge. Both teams were separated by 16 points at the Wind Games, and Rhythm reduced the difference to 11 points at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship, after a tight battle throughout the first seven rounds. There is no doubt that the U.S. opponents have very different goals in Bedford. Rhythm want to eliminate the difference completely, while Airspeed plan to get closer to NMP PCH HayaBusa and leave Rhythm further behind.

SDC Rhythm XP took turns in the flying chamber with the French/Italian combination of Weembi Legion/Unicorns. Julien Degen, Weembi host of the upcoming FAI Indoor World Meet, brought 4-way Women world champion Clementine LeBohec to Bedford, and his Italian Legion team mate Alessandra De Rango added former Amnesya member Michele Silvi to the World Challenge lineup.

World Challenge training on Wednesday evening
Airheads from Switzerland
The only missing Top 6 team on Wednesday were the Qatar Tigers, and they were ready for World Challenge training on Thursday, as the newest NSL Live TV video clip is showing. The NSL News mentioned earlier that coaches Gary Smith and Jeremie Rollett have switched their jobs within the Qatar delegation (Tigers in 4-way, Falcons in 8-way). Gary Smith is now coaching the reigning indoor and outdoor 4-way world champions from Belgium, while he is also trying to bring the Qatar Tigers to the same level.

There is no conflict of interest at this point in time, as NMP PCH HayaBusa is still far ahead of the Tigers. In fact, the Belgians appreciate competition to get pushed to their own higher performance levels. The newest video is showing Gary Smith at work with the Qatar Tigers.

The Swiss Airheads were also getting ready for the competition on Thursday. Their red jumpsuits are better fitted for indoor competition judging than the usual dark colors, which have their origin in outdoor competition. Last and not least, ISR FireFlash was back in action with the complete lineup, after a long injury break for Glenn Straeluyc. Former ISR Thunder member Jacco van Eerden had substituted at the team's last two indoor meets in November and December 2018.

All teams will have their official air speed test on Thursday evening, and the competition draw is scheduled for 10.00 PM.
