Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV features the exciting duel at the French Nationals?

4-way competitor with Espoir Saumur Weembi in Bedford: David Ricard
posted Aug 18th, 2018 - The update on 1 August 2018 after the conclusion of the French Nationals included the ten meet videos of the Aerodyne Weembi Girls that team videographer Michel Laynaud made available for NSL-TV.

David Ricard, who is filming the French national team in 4-way Open, Aerodyne Realfly, followed up with the meet videos of his team, and the NSL-TV audience now has the opportunity to follow the very exciting competition between the two French national teams that ended up in a tie after Round 10. Aerodyne Realfly won the French gold medals with the highest score in Round 8.

Both teams compete for France at the FAI World Meet 2018, where they are medal contenders. Aerodyne Weembi Girls will bring back gold medals in 4-way Women to France, while Aerodyne Realfly will be facing very strong opponents in Australia.

Laurence Fugen, Damien Gouriou, Kevin Mansion and Charles Rommel bring in the experiences of two world meets. Laurence Fugen won gold in 4-way Women in Prostejov 2014, where Damien Gouriou competed in 4-way Open for France, Kevin Mansion and Charles Rommel in 8-way. Then the complete current lineup competed together at the FAI Mondial 2016 where they won the bronze medals with Loic Campy on camera.

David Ricard was the newest team member of the French B-Team Espoir Saumur Weembi when his future team mates were getting ready for their competition at the FAI Mondial 2016. His team then had a very strong showing at the World Challenge 2017 and followed up with impressive outdoor scores in 2017, as well, including the 7th place at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2017.

On camera for Aerodyne Realfly: David Ricard

The NSL News update on 5 June 2018 provided more details of how David Ricard eventually became the team videographer for Aerodyne Realfly. Fact is that the FAI World Meet 2018 will be the first world championship competition for him, and he will be facing the same ultimate competition pressure as his team mates.

National coach Mathieu Bernier had a very clear and short summary of his teams' performances at the national championships and how they could do better. Aerodyne Realfly performed behind his expectations, and Aerodyne Weembi Girls did not take advantage of the 6-point lead after Round 6. Both teams have room for improvements.

The French national 4-way teams have more training scheduled in August and September before they will be facing two very different situations in Australia. Aerodyne Weembi Girls compete without pressure in 4-way Women and will look at the 4-way Open Class leaderboard, while Aerodyne Realfly have to deliver peak performance for a chance to win gold medals...
