posted Jun 17th, 2018 - The Paraclete XP Summer Classic 2018 came close to a conclusion on Saturday when eight of the ten scheduled rounds were completed.

It's the second time that Paraclete XP offers the combination of the traditional indoor competition in February and follow up with a high-profile outdoor competition in June, half way on the road to the USPA Nationals.

Last year, the same event generated the three USPA gold medalists in Perris, Arizona Airspeed in 4-way Open (AAA), Ranch 2nd Generation (R2G) in 4-way Advanced (AAA) and Vega XP in 4-way Intermediate (AA). Airspeed is back for the same event to add competition practice and exits from the Cessna Caravan that will be the jump plane at the FAI World Meet later this year in Australia.

SDC Rhythm XP had offered Airspeed great opposition at the Paraclete XP Summer Classics 2017 and had to cancel this year's event due to Doug Barron's injury situation. Airspeed is facing only indirect pressure from the international opponents who will be checking and evaluating the scores very carefully.

USPA's 2017 Advanced Class winner Ranch 2nd Generation is challenging the 20-average benchmark with 19.1 after Round 8. The draw for the 10-round meet may not allow the desired average in Raeford.

USPA Intermediate Class gold medals in 2017: Vega XP
However, R2G's average after this weekend's meet will be significantly higher than the standing 16.5 outdoor record from last year's event at the same place. R2G had won the USPA Advanced Class gold medals in Perris with a 16.4 average.

Vega XP, USPA Intermediate Class champion of 2017, made the required move up into the AAA/Advanced Class already at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2018 and follow up with the first outdoor competition in this category. The team's performance level at this point in time may even promise a spot in Advanced Class medal contention in September.

The May meet of the Carolina Skydiving League is embedded in the Paraclete XP Summer Classic 2018, and the AA/Intermediate Class leaderboard features local and regional reams.

TSC Cadence is on USPA Intermediate Class gold medal level by now and could complete a copy of last year's triple of gold medal teams at the Paraclete outdoor competition...
