NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that the Monaco Indoor Skydive Team got help from a 4-way junior in Roosendaal?

Monaco Indoor Skydive Team with 4-way junior Kylian Forsans
posted Dec 2nd, 2017 - Leaderboards of a size like the recent one at the ISR Grand Prix 2017 offer a lot of interesting information and topics for team stories. The next one does not cover the winners or top contenders, like the ISR FireFlash update or the HF Junior Cub story did.

The competition between the Monaco Indoor Skydive Team and Tenanine for the bronze medals in Roosendaal alone was already exciting enough with a 4-point difference after Round 8. However, this duel behind the two top teams generated much more than only an exciting battle.

The lineups of both teams include French 4-way and 8-way celebrities who have won several medals at FAI world meets and world cups years ago. The current Monaco indoor lineup still competes with Jeff Ronzevalle and Franck Vazille who were 8-way team mates in the French national teams of the 80's and 90's.

Tenanine competes for Mauretania, with two more French competitors in the lineup. Martial Ferre was still an active French 8-way competitor in the lineup that won gold medals at the FAI World Meet in Menzelinsk 2010. Mathieu Cannesson was in the French 8-way lineup Venturi and won a bronze medal at the FAI World Meet in Prostejov 2014.

The stories of the lineups themselves alone are interesting enough, and both teams with their French connections have also run into each other at a few events ever since Tenanine joined the 4-way indoor world at the World Challenge 2015.
Tenanine at the ISR Grand Prix 2017
Tenanine has easily won each single direct confrontation with Monaco so far, three times this year (Wind Games, French Indoor Nationals, ISR Grand Prix).

However, things have changed, and the close competition between the two teams in Roosendaal, based on a significantly higher performance level of the Monaco team and a new 22.3 record average, caught the NSL News attention even more than the colorful lineups.

A closer look at the team rosters in Roosendaal was showing a personnel change for Monaco, while Tenanine has competed with the same lineup at the seven indoor meets since the Wind Games in January 2016, and the 22.8 average in Roosendaal was a new team record, as well.

The Monaco Indoor Skydive Team had a new team member at the ISR Grand Prix 2017 last week whose name has not been on any AAA Class leaderboards so far.

Kylian Forsans joined Stéphane Mattoni, Jeff Ronzevalle and Franck Vazille in the Outside Center position and helped lifting Monaco to a new performance and scoring level.

Kylian Forsans is a French 4-way competitor, as well, and his name has also been in team rosters on other previous leaderboards.
In fact, he has even won FAI medals before - in the 4-way Junior category. He was in the Aerokart Ak'demie 1 lineup that competed with Aerokart Ak'demie 2 team for the trip to Montreal at the French Indoor Nationals 2017 and lost by two points in an exciting AA Class 10-round battle.

His Ak'demie team had won the silver medals at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016, where Ak'demie 2 placed 4th. The French Indoor Nationals 2017 were the qualifier for all French teams to compete in Montreal, and Kylian Forsans missed the trip to Canada.

The 22.3 average for Monaco in the 8-round AAA Class competition in Roosendaal came after four sequences with slot switchers for the front piece that Kylian Forsans was flying together with Stéphane Mattoni. The Monaco lineup with the 4-way junior still finished closer to Tenanine than ever before.

Tenanine member Mathieu Cannesson was also a coach for the Aerokart Ak'demie junior project, and he surely knew of Kylian Forsans' skills. Monaco will probably try to keep him in the lineup for future events, and Tenanine has to be ready for a lot of pressure coming from the new Monaco junior/senior combination...
