Did You Know...

... that ISR FireFlash has new 4-way plans for the 2018 season?

27.3 average in Roosendaal: ISR FireFlash
posted Nov 28th, 2017 - The latest scores on the NSL leaderboard came from the Netherlands, where Indoor Skydive Roosendaal held its annual Grand Prix 8-round competition. The event featured the AAA Class winner ISR FireFlash, which might be the most improved 4-way team of the year.

The NSL News had introduced FireFlash with the story on 12 January 2017 and followed up with the team's progression throughout the six 4-way events that FireFlash has attended ever since. The FireFlash members were also NMP PCH HayaBusa's 8-way partners and competed at three meets with the Fly-In Machine 44.

Last weekend's 27.3 average beat the team's previous 24.2 indoor average at the World Challenge 2017 by far and did not allow any other team to get close. Even Italy's top team Amnesya could not keep up after the previous 3-point difference between both teams in Bedford. Amnesya had HayaBusa's tail Jeroen Nollet in the lineup who replaced Antonio Delogu in Roosendaal.

FireFlash is still a shooting star story, even though the Belgian team is now well known in the world's top level of 4-way competition. In fact, the two former Thunder ISR members, Sven Ibens and Wesley Claessens, are on their way with the other two FireFlash members, Maya Van Campenhout and Glenn Cuylaerts, to get back to the world's top amateur level that they owned with their former team.

Last Thunder ISR meet: ISR Grand Prix 2016
Inside Center Sven Ibens, who is one of the original NMP PCH HayaBusa members, said that his team was "extremely happy with our performance and the progression that we have shown in our first year as a team".

He said that a few rounds in Roosendaal could have been better, while the whole performance was "on par". He is convinced that FireFlash is capable of much more, and the 2018 training and meet plans are set.

There are no 8-way plans with the Fly-In Machine 44, as the HayaBusa focus is only on 4-way next year, and FireFlash will do the same.

FireFlash aims at 250 training jumps and 12 to 15 hours of indoor training, which will probably lift the performance level quickly above the 20+ average outdoor level.

Thunder ISR concluded the team's career with a 29.3 average at last year's ISR Grand Prix, and it would be no big surprise if ISR FireFlash finishes on the same scoring level at the 2018 event. Thunder's highest 10-round outdoor average was the 22.9 at the Tomscat Trophy 2014, which might be a target for FireFlash in the near future.

In the meantime, former Thunder member Paul Hofstee is taking care of the newer 4-way generation on the Dutch side. The NSL News had introduced the Dutch Formation Skydiving Project 20+ with the story on 30 May 2017.

Paul Hofstee and Jacco van Eerden with Team Orange
The 4-way project included four teams, and the 4th lineup was planned to be developed only with indoor training and competition at the beginning. New 4-way competitors Ralf Pijnenburg and Rick Verbunt would train regularly with two members of Team Orange as player coaches.

Team Orange member Paul Hofstee now guided Team White through its first indoor competition, and the 21.3 average is a very promising starting point. Bart Daenen completed the White lineup.

He is the videographer for project team Out of the Blue. His team does not need him at an indoor competition, and he could join Team White at the ISR Grand Prix.

Out of the Blue beat the 20+ benchmark and still had to allow the White indoor experts to place ahead. Paul Hofstee's Thunder team mate Jacco van Eerden is training and competing with him for Team Orange, as well. Team Orange attended two outdoor meets this year and did not compete at the ISR Grand Prix.
