Did You Know...

... that iFLY Sacramento took the top of the 12+ leaderboard for July?

WTL competitors at iFLY Sacramento
posted Jul 31st, 2017 - The new WTL July scores came along with Indoor Cloud League updates from Northern California, where iFLY Sacramento and iFLY SF Bay have been battling for the top spot on the 12+ leaderboard.

The iFLY Sacramento team started early this month and posted the first three scores and videos after the NCSL Tunnel Kicker on July 13. The new update improved the A Class score and added the missing three scores for the Rookie Class categories. The new July total moved iFLY Sacramento up to the top of the 12+ leaderboard for now.

July was a busy month at iFLY Sacramento with four organized indoor events. The first Thursday featured the 3-way scrambles where coaches, experienced and novice fliers are paired to form six teams all flying fast and furious 3-way skill drill formations.

The Indoor Cloud League events followed on July 13th and July 20th, before the three teams competed at the NCSL World Tunnel League meet on July 27th.

The higher ICL submission in the A Class on July 20th was flown by twins Noah and Caleb Thornquest, Valerie Armstrong along with player coach Matt Stephens. Although the team scored 20 points, Lori Connor noted that due to a video malfunction, only half of the block's video was judgeable: "Higher scores were present for the A Class team on its 6th and 7th rounds but could not be used. However, the 20-point score was enough to bump up the July 13th submission by Err Speed of 17 points."

The RRR Class highscore of 17 was added by NCSL Tunnel Kicker regulars Justin and Kristen Breaux. This month they were joined by iFLY Sacramento instructor Ian Durell, along with Nicole Senecal.

Nicole Senecal trained and competed with SDC Rhemix last year and won a silver at the USPA Nationals in the AA/Intermediate Class with a 10.6 average. She moved to Northern California earlier this year and is now training with team mate Ian Durell to compete at the USPA Nationals in 2-way Freestyle.

The Breaux, Durell and Senecal team also performed additional three rounds of the A Class sequence on July 20th, and their video could also not be used.

26-pointer highscore: RR Class lineup
The competition in the other two Rookie Class categories (R/RR) on July 20 was very close. Player coaches Matt Stephens and Lori Connor were in the two competing lineups, with Karel Davis and Keith Clayton in one team, and with Casey Simons and Reed Lawson in the other one.

There was only a 2-point difference between these two teams in the R Class (33 - 31). In the RR Class, Karel Davis and Keith Clayton had the highscore with 26 points. However, Lori Connor noted that Casey Simons and Reed Lawson actually had the higher scores in their 6th and 7th rounds, and the video could not be used due to its low quality.

Lori Connor congratulated her WTL and ICL teams for an awesome July showing in all of the scoring categories: "Special thanks to iFLY Sacramento for being our awesome home tunnel and to the amazing iFLY SAC instructors and staff who absolutely provide a wonderful experience at the tunnel keeping us safe and happy! Next week in indoor flying will be the 3-way scrambles at iFLY Sacramento and the 4-way Tunnel Kicker at iFLY SF Bay! Don't forget to register for the next outdoor meet being held on August 5th! Registration is still open for all 3 events!"
