Did You Know...

... that the Indoor Cloud League July competition started early?

Team Harpia from Brazil at iFLY Sao Paulo
posted Jul 17th, 2017 - The Indoor Cloud League had a very early start into the July competition, even though it was only one score for the A Class sequence that came from Brazil.

Harpia is a newly formed team that trains indoor at iFLY Sao Paulo. Adriana Garcia (Point) and Augusto Rosa (Tail) have 4-way veterans Humberto do Prado (Outside Center) and Ricardo Pettená (Inside Center) in their lineup, who both have thousands of jumps and plenty of additional tunnel training time.

Humberto do Prado is a 6-time Brazilian champion of the earlier days, and Ricardo Pettená trained and competed with DeLand VNE in the mid 90s, including a trip with the US delegation to the FAI World Cup 1996 in Belgium.

Harpia has only indoor plans so far. The first Brazilian team on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard launched the project at the beginning of the year and has ten hours of flying time on the training agenda in 2017. The current goal is attendance at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2018, either in the AA or AAA competition. The first Harpia video is showing the team perform the A Class sequence, which could also be drawn for a AA Class competition.

Early Indoor Cloud League July scores: Errspeed
Harpia was the first team on the 12+ leaderboard, and it did not take very long until iFLY Sacramento and iFLY Tampa followed up with their first July scores and videos. In fact, the early 12+ leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League in July features three videos for the A Class sequence.

Florida team SCD ZEUS has the lead for iFLY Tampa with the 19-pointer. Harpia and iFLY Sacramento's A Class lineup (Lisa Larkin, John Verley, Ron Ashcraft, Calli Waltrip) are tied two points behind. The iFLY Sacramento lineup of the DeLoreans (Matt Stephens, Lori Connor, Jason Russell, Steven Walker) posted numbers for the AAA and AA sequences where they are behind the iFLY Tampa lineup at this point in time.

NCSL director Lori Connor explained how the first scores and videos came to the early July leaderboard: "What do you do when you can't make the scheduled Tunnel Kicker? Meet up at the tunnel another night and fly the Indoor Cloud League sequences and get the video to me or Maria Sheets!"

Outdoor Cloud League scores for SkyDance: DeLoreans
She said that iFLY SAC's NCSL coaches Jason Russell and Steven Walker cannot attend next week's Tunnel Kicker, and the DeLoreans got together on Thursday night last week for some flights.

The DeLoreans were joined by A Class team Err Speed whose lineup consisted of John Verley, Ron Ashcraft, Lisa Larkin and Calli Waltrip last Thursday. John Verley and Calli Waltrip are unable to attend the scheduled NCSL Tunnel Kicker on July 20 and still wanted to participate in July's Indoor Cloud League competition. Thus they met earlier to perform their A Class sequence for the month of July.

Lori Connor said that there are still slots available for the event on July 20 and invited the members of her ICL team: "Be a part of SAC staying in the lead among the 12+ tunnels on the 2017 Indoor Cloud League leaderloard! The ICL draw is always announced the first of the month and can be flown at any time the entire month - indoors or outdoors! Yes, that's right!"

"As a matter of fact, for any belly flying out at the DZ's on the weekends, grab a camera flyer and do a round or two of the July sequences and be a part of the Outdoor Cloud League! Remember that the 35 seconds of working time for the R and RR sequences begins from the break of the Star (M) and not from the exit. For all other categories (AAA - AA - A - RRR) the working time starts with the exit."
