Did You Know...

... that the league's indoor and outdoor activities in the Northwest are mutually beneficial?

AA Class winner: Skydive Midwest Next
posted Jun 25th, 2015 - The international teams dominated the overall AAA Class leaderboard last weekend, while the situation was the opposite in the AA Class.

Four US teams from three different leagues outscored all AA Class teams from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. A few adjustments of the leaderboard were necessary to determine the final rankings, which are based on the total number of points after Round 4, as DeLand Flashpoint was one of the victims of the Florida summer weather pattern.

Two Midwest Skydiving League teams took the top of the leaderboard before and after the adjustments. SDC Jetstream Tango was tied with the JOES after Round 4 and moved ahead of the Northwest Skydiving League team in the two following rounds.

Training hard: JOES
The Northwest Skydiving League had two teams in the AA Class competition, and RainAir finished 13th. NWSL Director Deb Correia held the league's first meet of the 2015 season on June 20, with Bill Selig judging the meet:

"There were clouds when we first arrived at the drop zone, but they cleared by 9:20, and we were underway. With a very full tandem schedule at Skydive Snohomish, the teams were pre-manifested for the day for every 4th load, with one team per load. That schedule worked very well, and we were finished with all six rounds by around 6 pm."

The JOES have been together for several years. The team is planning to compete at the USPA Nationals this year, and Deb Correia said that they have been training hard.

Only four rounds: DeLand Flashpoint
The JOES' training included a recent 3-day tunnel camp with Steve and JaNette Lefkowitz, who were both coaching their indirect competition at Chicagoland Skydiving Center last weekend, where Skydive Midwest Next and SDC Jetstream Tango outscored the JOES.

MWSL team SDC eXtreme also finished ahead of RainAir in the lower third of last weekend's leaderboard. RainAir was a Rookie Class team last year, and Deb Correia explained the team's progression:

"When one of their team mates, Matthias Kaminski, moved, coach David Zhang filled in, and the team also made the decision to switch up their slots. A week prior to the meet, the team also had to replace Agata Staniak, and Steve Platt, who has been involved in 4-way for many years, stepped in. With that change, the team decided to try their hand at AA."

First AA Class meet: RainAir
Deb Correia said that several of last weekend's 4-way competitors came from the Indoor Cloud League activities. She and her indoor coaches Dave Correia, Jeff Smith and David Zhang also competed at the first outdoor meet this year.

She is happy with the results of the indoor project:

"It was very rewarding to see that the long-time coaches for the ICL each headed up a team, and that so many of the regular competitors in the ICL have chosen to take it to the skies."

Deb Correia will soon follow up with June's ICL scores from iFLY Seattle. Her next outdoor competition is scheduled for July 18th.
