News Article Did you know that Christy Frikken's NSL Profile needed a new update?
posted: Aug 7th, 2023 The NSL Profiles were created beginning in 2001, and they reflected different generations of Formation Skydiving competitors. Christy Frikken was a part of the second generation, and her career story was posted when she was awarded with the "Skydiver of the Year" title that the Skydiving Magazine had created even longer ago. Skydiving Magazine's co-owner Sue Clifton had decided in 2015 to donate the remaining Skydiver of the Year trophies to the National Skydiving League, after her partner Mike Truffer died in a skydiving accident in 2013. She did not have any requirements for the future use... (more)
News Article Did you know that SCSL team Phoenix Pheathers have plans for the USPA Nationals 2023?
posted: Jul 14th, 2023 The Southern California Skydiving League (SCSL) made it through the last three years of the coronoa virus crisis without a total interruption. Josh Hall, Arizona Airspeed 4-way world champion of 2012, had been running the 4-way league since 2014, and he was in charge of the meets during the pandemic period. The Southern California Skydiving League survived the challenging times and has become the only league in the NSL Network that has offered the regional 4-way meet opportunities since 2007 without missing a year. In fact, these events were taking place even a few years earlier, before the... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Paraclete XP Summer Classic is coming back?
posted: Apr 4th, 2023 The first version of Paraclete XP's Summer Classic competition grew out of the Carolina Skydiving League, which was one of the busiest leagues in the NSL 4-way Network at that time. The Raeford Parachute Center was an early host of the CASL meets, and Paraclete XP lifted the July competition in 2007 to a new level with a $14,000 purse of prize money. The Paraclete XP Money Meet became the prime U.S. event between the Shamrock Showdown and the USPA Nationals in the middle of the outdoor summer season. The Shamrock Showdown defined the starting point of the outdoor season, and the teams had... (more)
News Article Did you know that SDC Rhythm XP and Pour Decisions both are in good starting positions into the 2023 season?
posted: Mar 23rd, 2023 The re-match of the currently four best 4-way teams in the world at the Shamrock Showdown 2023 did not leave much room on the top of the leaderboard for other teams, even though the lineups of SDC Rhythm XP and Pour Decisions included world and national champions. The NSL News introduced these two teams with the preview on March 9th, the day before Round 1 at Skydive DeLand. The Shamrock Showdown was defining the starting point for all participating teams at the beginning of the next time period for all of them. The four national teams in the Top 4 positions are looking at a new 2-year cycle... (more)
News Article Did you know that the official world record for a single round is still Airspeed's 59-pointer of 2017?
posted: Feb 23rd, 2023 The competition draw of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2023 included a Super Sequence for the 4-way AAA Class teams in Round 4 (M,B,G,E,F) that was randomly drawn for the national indoor championships of the United States. The scores had no significant impact on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard, as most of the teams performed according to their ranking positions. Only XPG4 and Greenlight scored significantly higher than teams ahead of them in the rankings. The scores for a Super Sequence can have a much stronger impact, and the situation at the German Outdoor Nationals 2021 is probably... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Southwest Skydiving League was launched in 2000?
posted: Feb 8th, 2023 The NSL News update of Christy Frikken's new position as the Southern California Skydiving League director on February 5th included a brief look back into the SCSL history. The story explained that the league started as a part of the Southwest Skydiving League, which eventually split up into the northern (NCSL) and the southern part (SCSL), and a new league in Arizona. The same NSL News update mentioned that both most recent SCSL directors, Josh Hall and Christy Frikken, were participating in the league events at that time with their 4-way team Perris Fury. The Southwest Skydiving League was... (more)
