Did you know that the Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders are on track to outscore the French world champions of 2010? posted: Jul 13th, 2011 The competition in the female 4-way category of the World Cup 2011 is probably the one where the winner can be predicted quite easily. There are not many doubts that the French Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders will successfully live up to their team name.
The main question for the Defenders is only how close they will get to the scoring level of the Deep Blue lineup. Sophie Deremaux, Amélie Tirman, Bérangère Duplouy and Françoise Simons-Hamouchi won the gold medals for Deep Blue at the World Cup 2009 in Prostejov and at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk.

Did you know that that partial playback, slow motion, and multiple views increase the quality and speed of judging? posted: Jul 12th, 2011 Judy Celaya, one of the most experienced judges in the sport, is the Chief Judge at this year's USPA Nationals at Skydive Arizona in Eloy. She has been advocating for a better application of available judging techniques for a while to improve the accuracy of the scores.
The current official FAI/IPC and USPA judging rules have not been using the technical features that new judging systems, such as CamScore, offer for the sport. The current FAI/IPC rules define the judging procedure as follows:

Did you know that the 8-way event could be the highlight of the World Cup 2011? posted: Jul 11th, 2011 The last preview of the World Cup 2011 mentioned that this year's event has the character of a real world meet, as four teams from outside of Europe visit Germany next month. The Golden Knighhts are the major contributor to this great feature event of the 2011 season.
The US Army delegation has a lineup for each of the three traditional Formation Skydiving events, and the 8-way competition will most likely be the most exciting category. The 4-way Open Class competition does not have the strongest US team in the field of 23 teams, Arizona Airspeed. The Golden Knights have a very strong 4-way... (more)
Did you know that Flying Fish is the TEAM OF THE WEEKEND? posted: Jul 11th, 2011 The busiest meet weekend of the 2011 season is coming up, with events at eight different locations. Five of the competitions take place in the USA, while teams in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and France will also post their scores at the same time. The third weekend of the month seems to be the prime choice of meet organizers.
The Midwest Skydiving League had the only meet last weekend. MWSL Director Alan Butt scheduled a faster turnaround from June (25th) to July (9th) since the MWSL teams have a shorter competition season after a late start this year. The turnout was still the same at Chicagoland... (more)

The MWSL teams visit the new home of Chicagoland Skydiving, one of the two skydiving centers that have consistently been hosting MWSL meets ever since the league was launched.
Last weekend's events took place in Finland and Brazil, and the NSL News has covered both events with information provided by CTR Optimum member André Ferraz from Brazil and Jukka Olkkonen from Finland. Once again it is difficult to credit any of the seven teams with the unofficial... (more)
