News Article Did you know that Open Class team Rippon Flatties experimented with a jumpsuit design?
posted: Sep 23rd, 2023 The 4-way Advanced Class teams at the USPA Nationals 2023 had the unique opportunity this year to set a new record average for this category. The teams in the Open and Advanced Class categories are using the same competition draw, even though they have their own and separate leaderboards. The same Super Sequence that the 4-way Open Class teams performed in the meet opener (O,E,C,Q,H) was also Round 1 for the 15 Advanced Class teams. However, the NSL News update on September 19th mentioned that the combination of a Super Sequence and the first round of a competition creates a challenging situation... (more)
News Article Did you know that the GKXPAZ 16-way combination won each of the six rounds?
posted: Sep 22nd, 2023 The NSL News mentioned earlier that the 4-way participation at the USPA Nationals 2023 was significantly higher than last year (56 - 48). It was similar in 8-way where 23 teams exceeded the participation at Skydive Chicago (19). In fact, the total of 23 teams in the three 8-way categories this week were only outscored by the 24 U.S. teams at the same place in 2019, and they tied the 23 U.S. teams in Perris 2017, Eloy 2016 and 2015. Eight 16-way teams also created a new record number in this event since 2000, with two more teams than in 2022. Only the first three years after the introduction... (more)
News Article Did you know that Apex make plans for the next outdoor world championship?
posted: Sep 21st, 2023 Teams and competitors at the USPA Nationals 2023 have turned to the 16-way event, where the combination of Arizona Airspeed, GKXP8 and XPG4, with two outsiders (Steve Lefkowitz, Doug Barron), dominate the leaderboard the same way as they did in 4-way and 8-way. The NSL News is catching up with other events in the meantime, this time with more news from Great Britain. The update that covered the British Outdoor Nationals on September 17th focused mostly on NFTO's situation before and after the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving. The same update pointed out that the British national... (more)
News Article Did you know that XPG4 is the first 4-way Women team in 2nd place at USPA Nationals?
posted: Sep 20th, 2023 As it could be expected, Arizona Airspeed came back with vengeance after the Round 1 disaster. They did not allow any other team to get anywhere close to their highscores in the following nine rounds and still finished with the highest outdoor average that the current lineup has posted so far. The two teams who had outscored the 4-way world champions in Round 1, SDC Rhythm XP and XPG4, had a few of their own point deductions in the same Super Sequence and then followed up with their battle for the positions behind Arizona Airspeed. Rhythm started two points ahead of XPG4, which lasted only for... (more)
News Article Did you know that Arizona Airspeed gave away the first outdoor round since October 2021?
posted: Sep 19th, 2023 The story of the 4-way Super Sequence in Round 1 at the USPA Nationals 2023 began on Sunday evening during the opening ceremony at the end of the day. Meet Director Randy Connell and Chief Judge Judy Celaya handed out copies of the competition draw to the team captains after the welcome briefing for the 56 teams. The participation was significantly higher than last year when 48 teams competed at Skydive Chicago. It was not a live competition draw as it was done at Skydive Voss for the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving, where Dutch judge Rogier Carper drew the numbers and letters manually... (more)
News Article Did you know that NFTO were back on the podium at the national outdoor championship?
posted: Sep 17th, 2023 The series of aftermath events behind the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving also included the British Outdoor Nationals 2023, which were held on the weekend when the German Outdoor Nationals 2023 were concluded at the Fallschirmsportzentrum Saar.. Team Apex won the 4-way AAA Class title this month, after the British 4-way champion team of 2022, Chimera, had decided to discontinue after the 5th place at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, as the NSL News reported on January 24th. The door to the national championship title and the qualification for the next outdoor world championship... (more)
