News Article Did you know that Caroline Layne picks up 4way where her brother James left it in 1992?
posted: Apr 29th, 2013 "David Layne was an old friend of Jim West's from England who had moved to Xenia a few years earlier with his wife Rira, eight-year-old son James, and six-year-old daughter Carolina. The Layne family had been a presence on the drop zone for a few years before I actually took it over. The Greene County Sport Parachute Club was a family business with a club atmosphere back then, and like other members of the "club", the Laynes contributed to keeping the place moving." "I had become very close with Rita, David, and their kids. Once i started running it, the drop zone became the Green County Skydiving... (more)

News Article Did you know that the World Challenge 2013 was also a Finland 4way Fest?
posted: Apr 27th, 2013 Finland has participated in the international NSL Network for many years. The Scandinavian country with a long winter and a short summer has a very small skydiving community, even though the Helsinki Parachuting Club is one of the biggest in the world. There is a simple reason for that. Helsinki is the country's capital city, and roughly 25% of the population live in or around Helsinki. Rovaniemi is approx. 560 miles (900 kilometers) north of Helsinki, and the winters are even much longer right at the polar circle. On the other hand, it hardly gets dark at night at all for a few weeks in the... (more)
News Article Did you know that the weather in North Carolina was not better than in Florida?
posted: Apr 26th, 2013 Last weekend's weather was not much better in the Carolinas than it was in Florida. The same weather front kept teams and competitors away from the meet locations and made it difficult for any present teams to get in the air. Carolina Skydiving League director Laura Dickmeyer, Golden Knights member and silver medalist in the female 4way category of the Mondial Dubai 2012, reported that the winds were too unpredictable, and the meet was called early. However, TSC Vertigo had scheduled an 8way training camp for the same weekend and were one of the four teams who visited the Raeford Parachute... (more)

It was an international competition, as Pari-Passu was the second team from the Netherlands (Cool Runnings - AAA Class) who concluded a spring training camp in DeLand with the meet test at the end. Home team DeLand DeLand and Teiwaz represented the Florida Skydiving League. The three teams finished within 11 points after six rounds, and Teiwaz with one of the team's numerous lineups, took the 1st place. DeLand DeLand and... (more)
News Article Did you know that SportLoto defeated Thunder for the first time at the World Challenge 2013?
posted: Apr 24th, 2013 The NSL News reported on 14 February 2013 that Thunder and SportLoto will continue their own race for the unofficial title of the best amateur team in the world this year. The race had a good start when Thunder competed at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2013 at the end of February and SportLoto followed up at the Freezone Indoor Championship 2013 at the beginning of March. The scores were very close by then, even though both teams competed at different places and with different competition draws.
