News Article Did you know that re-judging is not always a promising option at the World Challenge?
posted: Apr 17th, 2018 The World Challenge has always applied a special set of rules and regulations that have been tailored to the event ever since host Paul Mayer launched it in 2006. Most of them are identical or similar with the FAI/IPC rules, and it is not very difficult for the visiting FAI/IPC judges to apply them. Paul Mayer added the NSL competition classes piece by piece, which are not a part of the FAI/IPC format (A - Rookie), and offered the AA Class competition, as well, which has now become the 4-way Junior category at FAI/IPC indoor events. The World Challenge included a default Super Sequence in... (more)
News Article Did you know that the complete Chicas lineup of 2006 - 2008 competed at the World Challenge?
posted: Apr 17th, 2018 The whole Chicas story began actually in 2003, 15 years ago. France was still far away from gold medals in 4-way Women, and the British female 4-way competitors dominated the event, while the Norgie Girls were the most popular team in this new FAI/IPC category. Current Chicas member Marion Thomas had attended the first 4-way Women world meet competition as the alternate for the German national team Parat in Spain 2001 before the Chicas were formed in 2003, only with Petra Baerenfaenger and Sylvia Maier in the lineup. It was a different team that competed at the World Challenge 2018 and visited... (more)
News Article Did you know that penalties can also have a good side at the Shamrock Showdown?
posted: Apr 16th, 2018 Indoor events have been keeping the NSL News busy and the audience entertained, before and after the first major outdoor competition of the year was completed, the Shamrock Showdown 2018. In fact, the NSL Calendar of Events is showing 19 single events this year, disregarding World Tunnel League and Indoor Cloud League. The NSL Calendar of Events is not comprehensive, and there have probably been additional indoor or outdoor meets this year, which are not in the NSL records. However, the existing data is showing that three of the 19 listed events were outdoor competitions, including the Shamrock... (more)
News Article Did you know that Bubble Trouble has won and lost FAI silver medals in two different ways?
posted: Apr 14th, 2018 The 4-way Women competition at the FAI European Indoor Championships 2018 ended without any surprise on the very top of the leaderboard, where the Aerodyne Weembi Girls entered the next level of 4-way performance. The NSL News had reported on 23 March 2018 how the French team has been setting new standards in this category. The 23.5 average at the Shamrock Showdown 2018 was the highest outdoor average in 4-way Women history without a Super Sequence, and the same lineup followed up with the highest indoor average (31.0) at the French Indoor Nationals 2018. The Aerodyne Weembi Girls did not... (more)
News Article Did you know that two NFTO members join forces with Volition for Great Britain in Norway?
posted: Apr 13th, 2018 The World Challenge 2018 was supposed to have a separate leaderboard in 4-way Women. Only two teams were interested in this category this year, and they ended up on the AAA Class leaderboard for all teams, even though host Paul Mayer had separate sets of medals available that he still handed out during the award ceremony. NFTO, the British national team in 4-way Women, competed in Bedford and made the Top 10 of the AAA Class leaderboard for the first time at the team's third World Challenge. In fact, NFTO was the last team to make the final cut in 9th place. The 24.4 average in Bedford was... (more)
News Article Did you know that Blackjack's comeback is more like a new beginning?
posted: Apr 12th, 2018 The NSL News introduced the first AA Class winner from Finland at the World Challenge 2018 with the story on 9 April 2018. Tempo won the AA Class competition after an internal battle with a second team from Finland, Tahma. The situation was very similar in the AAA Class, where Telakka and Blackjack caught the attention of the NSL News in the absence of the Pro Team or the Tigers. Telakka and Blackjack did not compete for the medal positions in the AAA Class, as Tempo did in the AA Class. However, the internal battle of the teams from Finland was even much closer compared to the AA Class competition. Telakka... (more)
