News Article Did you know that Spa Hayabusa's 16-pointer highscore was real and correct?
posted: May 31st, 2005 The NSL News apologizes to the Belgium national 4-way team Spa Hayabusa and event judge Richard Schachner for the related incorrect comments in the May 30 story. The NSL News did not consider the fact that a re-jump was granted to the Belgium team when round eight of the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2005 was posted on NSL-TV. The Hayabusa jump on NSL-TV until today was the first time the Belgian team was in the air for round eight. The meet management later granted a re-jump for Hayabusa. The repeater was judged while the other teams continued with the next round, and the correct score of 16 points... (more)
News Article Did you know that Block 2 was the troublemaker of round eight?
posted: May 30th, 2005 The new NSL-TV show features round eight of the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2005. It was the last jump of the first meet day at Skydive DeLand on March 19, 2005. The sequence for this round (22-2-1) was one of the two slowest in the 10-round meet, and it gave teams and officials a hard time. The top teams were apparently not on their peak performance level any longer, possible due to an extraordinary long day of 4-way competition. The NSL News cannot recall any 4-way competition where eight rounds were completed on the same day. However, the official IPC and USPA rules do not limit the number of rounds... (more)
News Article Did you know that the new round of NSL-TV features last weekend's round one?
posted: May 29th, 2005 Posting scores of the May 21 weekend, meet stories and other updates had high priority during the week following the record participation. 81 teams ended up on the scoreboard. There are many more stories to come. However, several meet tapes have arrived at the NSL headquarters, and it was time to edit and upload the first load of files for NSL-TV. The coverage of the May 21 weekend begins with footage of the Florida, Mideast and Midwest Skydiving League. The NSL News already reported the events that surrounded the penalty situation at the Mideast Skydiving League event in Greene County with... (more)
News Article Did you know that USPA responded quickly?
posted: May 27th, 2005 The NSL News story on May 23 reported that there is a flaw in the penalty rules of the current version of USPA's Competition Manual. The last NSL Newsletter alerted teams and competitors in the U.S.A. about the problem, which was detected at last weekend's season opener of the Mideast Skydiving League. The NSL headquarters communicated the situation with USPA's Chair of the Competition Committee, Marylou Laughlin, as well. USPA responded to the serious problem very quickly. Laughlin did not spend much time trying to find out what happened, she rather took action to fix the problem. (more)
News Article Did you know that the NSL SkyVenture Competition catches up with the previous meets?
posted: May 26th, 2005 Last weekend's competition has been wrapped up, and it surely turned out to be the largest scoreboard in NSL history. Teams at 12 different league events in the U.S.A. and Europe used the same competition draw in four different classes and posted their scores at last weekend's overview. Several meet stories have already been added to the scores, more will follow, and NSL-TV will upload the first meet videos soon. The results of the NSL SkyVenture Competition will eventually complete the coverage of the record weekend. However, it is time to catch up with the earlier meets of the 2005 season. The... (more)
News Article Did you know that re-scoring broke the AA Class tie in the Mideast Skydiving League?
posted: May 26th, 2005 As the day dawned clear and bright on May 21st, a total of seven teams began arriving at Skydive Greene County to kick off the 2005 season of the newly re-named Mideast Skydiving League. There were some known faces and some new ones this year. In the Recreational Class, newcomers Foreplay would put forward a very nice day while enjoying themselves immensely. Their scores are especially credible since at least one member of the team had never jumped a tailgate prior to round one. Foreplay had no direct competition at this meet, but that is expected to change when all the members of DC3 are healthy... (more)
