posted: Nov 14th, 2008 The NSL News reported for the first time on 6 October 2008 what teams, competitors, judges and officials discussed during the open IPC meeting at the World Meet 2008. The future of the freeze frame judging was the topic. The story on 9 November 2008 followed up with another important topic, the use of slower viewing speed for the judging procedure. Finally, one more issue was discussed at the end of the meeting in Maubeuge, and it was related to the event duration. The NSL News took on the issue already during the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge when bad weather began to put pressure on the meet... (more)

News Article Did you know that Mass Defiance still holds the amateur record average?
posted: Nov 11th, 2008 The NSL News story on 7 November 2008 covered the impressive progression of Arizona Divewerkz, which recently culminated with a 19.0 average at the USPA Nationals 2008 and the unofficial title of the best "amateur team" in the USA. Another team name has been mentioned quite a few times, mostly whenever the NSL News covered the best "amateur teams" in the sport. Mass Defiance from New England actually still owns the highest meet average of the teams that can be considered weekend or amateur teams. The original lineup (Ben Liston, Jim Rees, John Silva, Brian Stephens, with Rick Smith on camera)... (more)

News Article Did you know that Arizona Divewerkz won the amateur championship at the USPA Nationals 2008?
posted: Nov 7th, 2008 The NSL News mentioned the "amateur championship" as a part of the Open Class competition at the USPA Nationals 2008 a few times during the live coverage of the event from Eloy. It is always an interesting situation when the teams of three different categories actually apply the same AAA Class dive pool. USPA's Open and Advanced Class teams are separated by different leaderboards and have their own sets of medals. The "pro teams" or "full-time teams" - whatever the definition of this may be - compete together with "amateur" or "weekend teams" in the Open Class. The best "amateur teams" in the... (more)
