posted: Mar 6th, 2006 The NSL News mentioned during the SSL Valentine's Meet 2006 coverage that USPA also held its annual winter meeting of the Board of Directors in Phoenix, Arizona, on the same weekend. Marylou Laughlin, Chair of the Competition Committee, had invited NSL President Kurt Gaebel to visit and discuss some of the topics with members of the committee. Kurt Gaebel used this opportunity to combine the NSL News coverage of the Valentine's Meet with the USPA meeting in Phoenix. Did you know that Zero Tolerance Miami is out and ZT Mal4mations is in?
posted: Mar 5th, 2006 The NSL News received a press release from a Florida Skydiving League team last week. Zero Tolerance Miami has been a long standing participant of the Florida Skydiving League. The team was founded in 2001 and competed for the very first time at the FSL 2001 season opener on January 28 at Skydve DeLand. The NSL News reported by then: "Zero Tolerance Miami, with Helena Poleo, Guido Marti, Jeff Bacigaludo and Robert Stoky, placed third with a 4.7 average, tying the round six highscore of six points. Did you know that the Colorado Skydiving League has a new leader?
posted: Mar 4th, 2006 The Colorado Skydiving League is back for the 2006 season with a new management and additional energy. Travis Roth continues the great work that Brian Vande Krol has done for the league throughout the 2005 season. The new league director explained that Brian Vande Krol has a very busy year ahead of him, including coaching in Colorado's new SkyVenture wind tunnel. The upcoming workload forced him to ask Travis Roth to continue with the CSL work. Travis Roth has picked up the CSL ball with a lot of motivation and energy. Did you know that a new Air Force line-up promises more high scores from Colorado this year?
posted: Mar 3rd, 2006 The coverage of the the AAA Class competition at the SSL Valentine's Meet 2006 is almost complete, and the A Class team Evas Revenge was already introduced with an earlier NSL News story, as well. The AA/Intermediate Class competition of the 2006 season opener is next. Two teams had signed up for the meet, CAD and AZ Fourplay. CAD is another line-up of the Air Force Academy skydiving operation in Colorado. Mike Bush (Outside Center), Joe Kreidel (Inside Center), Ryan Regan (Tail), Jon Vaage (Point) and Steve Ramos (Video) competed at the Valentine's Meet and finished with a 9.5 average in Eloy.... Did you know that wind tunnel flying was a part of the closing ceremony at the Winter Olympics?
posted: Mar 2nd, 2006 The last part of the Winter Olympics 2006 in Torino, Italy, was a highlight for skydivers. The closing ceremony last Sunday included an impressive demonstration of wind tunnel flying. The owner of a Latvian portable vertical wind tunnel, Ivars Beitans, set up an open air unit in the middle of the stadium. Once again, skydiving was presented to one of the largest audiences in the world in a beautiful and fascinating way. The flying demonstrations were perfectly arranged as a part of the opening ceremony, and the TV commentators were between impressed and speechless when the performance was featured... (more)

Did you know that Spa Hayabusa aims for World Meet 2006 medals?
posted: Mar 1st, 2006 The UK update is now followed by new information from Belgium. The Belgium national 4-way team, Spa Hayabusa, has made the NSL News several times in the past years, due to the team's commitment to live competition. Hayabusa is also the reigning European Skydiving League Champion. The Belgium national team finished in 6th place with a 17.8 average at the World Meet in Croatia 2004, then posted an 18.2 average at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2005. The Malevsky Cup 2005 brought a 19.4 average, and Hayabusa finished the 2005 season with a 20.0 average at the ESL Championship 2005. The progression... (more)
