Did You Know...

... that the Air Force teams switched positions in Colorado?

Air Force teams ready to go
posted Jun 6th, 2006 - Three teams of the Air Force Academy competed once again at last weekend's third competition of the Colorado Skydiving League. Air Force CAD and Air Force Shockwave had taken the first two places at the CSL May meet. The same line-ups took first and second place again last weekend, only in switched positions.

AF CAD's meet average went from 9.8 in May to 9.2 in June, while AF Shockwave improved the meet average from 8.8 in May to 10.3 last weekend. This was even enough for Shockwave to take the Air Force's internal lead (9.6 - 9.5) according to the season average in the AA Class. AF 7XY follows with a 9.0 season average after increasing the meet average from 7.8 in May to 8.8 in June.

Jump preparation on the ground...
Colorado Skydiving League Director Travis Roth provided a team profile of one of the Air Force teams with his review of last weekend's event, which is posted at the CSL website. The featured team is AF 7XY, which consists of one male and three female competitors.

The team members have been jumping together since spring 2005. Pete Theisen (Tail) is 21 years old and comes from Merrill, Michigan. He has been skydivin since 2004 and has 320+ jumps. He will be attending pilot training after his graduation in 2007.

Mary Asher Vendt (Point) is 21 years old and comes from Lebanon, Ohio. She has been skydiving since 2004 and has 320+ jumps. After finishing her Foreign Area Studies major with a focus in the Middle East she will also be attending pilot training in 2007.

...and in the plane
Caroline White (Center Outside) is 21 years old and comes from Tacoma, Washington. She made her first jump in 2004 and has a total of 320+ jumps. She studies for a Systems Engineering Management Major and will be attending pilot training after graduation, as well.

Abigail Crews (Inside Center) is 21 years old and comes from Boulder, Colorado. She made her first jump in 2004 and matches her team mates' jump numbers with the same 320+ jumps. She studies Systems Engineering and will also join the other team members with pilot training after graduation in 2007.

Team videographer Jeff Hyatt is the "veteran" in the team with his 22 years of age and 950+ jumps since 2002. He is from Colorado Springs and works as a professional rigger at the Air Force Academy. He has been with the team since August 2005.

AA Class team Levitation
The most significant progression of the teams in Colorado was shown by the Rookie Class team Mayhem. The team's first meet in April was a test to complete a scoring formation and get a result posted on the scoreboard. This time, Mayhem completed at least one scoring formation in each round and peaked in the first round of the meet with a score of 3 points.

The Colorado Skydiving League included once again its 4-way Scrambles in the meet weekend and produced two additional teams, Scambells in the AA Class and Bobbles in the Rookie Class. Both teams had problems with the video equipment and did not get scores for each round.
