Did You Know...

... that Synchronicity brings a one-point lead into today's round three?

Second MI-8 arriving in Rijeka
posted Sep 19th, 2004 - Rijeka woke up to perfect weather conditions on Sunday morning. The winds are calm, the sun is shining, morning chill was in the air. The only concern that remained at the end of a perfect first day of competition on Saturday was the aircraft situation on Sunday morning. The announced schedule included Accuracy, 4-way Women and 8-way. Each of these three events would need the MI-8 as the jump plane, according to the event rules. The difficulty was that the Accuracy event takes place at a stadium downtown Rijeka, while the Formation Skydiving events are being held at the airport.

Rumors were out that the organizer now expected a second MI-8 to arrive on Sunday morning. Accuracy and FS competitors both showed up bright and early at their event locations. However, there was still only one MI-8 on site when everbody arrived at the airport. Teams and competitors still continued with warm-up exercises and usual morning procedures. Finally, the sound of an arriving helicopter confirmed the organizer's successful efforts to create the perfect conditions for Sunday morning.

Italian team Kewara
The 4-way Women's event will be continued this morning after two rounds were completed on Saturday. The competition is very interesting and seems to be tighter than expected. The French national team was only one point behind Synchronicity in the opening round and tied the US team's score in round two. It seems as if France might give the USA a serious competition for the gold medal.

It also looks as if there will be a race for the bronze medal between Italy's Kewara and Russia's Ladybirds. While Kewara fell behind the progression of France between the Mondial 2003 and this year's world meet, the Ladybirds made big steps in 2004 and caught up with the Italian team. Both teams scored exactly the same number of points in the first two rounds. Round three is next and will show whether the explained situation will be confirmed.
