Did You Know...

... that two more MASL Rookie Class lineups had a real meet experience at Cross Keys?

posted Sep 23rd, 2011 - Participants for three Rookie Class lineups came already out to play at the second 4way Scrambles of the MidAtlantic Skydiving League at Cross Keys on the first September weekend, as the NSL News reported on 7 September 2011.

However, MASL Director Dennis Miller managed to attract several other new 4way players to the next MASL event only two weeks later. He said that most of the usual 4way fans at his meets had other engagements last weekend, but he saw several new faces who came out and participated: "We had two Rookie Class teams with five new players, almost all of whom had well under 100 jumps and no 4way experience. Gary Kingsley came out again and helped some of the players with less experience."

He added that MASL veteran videographer Barry Bichler was also on site but stepped down to let Matt Vasapollo film the teams, who had his successful debut on camera at the last event: "Matt has improved his video performance and will now be solicited in all future events, of course along with Barry."

Two teams from Texas competed in the Rookie Class at the annual Dallas Super Cup at the same time, while the very new Cross Keys players started from scratch and collected a total of three points altogether in the four rounds. It was a real competition experience for the Cross Keys lineups. Dennis Miller reported that there was a low ceiling all day long. All the meet jumps had to be done from approx. 10,000 feet altitude.

The lower jump altitude and the low number of points did not stop the new 4way players from having a lot of fun, as Dennis Miller added: "Although there were not a lot of points on the leaderboard at the end of the day, everyone said that they had a great time and enjoyed competing. Most of the new players have indicated that they are looking forward to the next meet."

Dennis Miller has scheduled one more meet for the MASL community this year, and it is scheduled for October 15.
